How about an iBook G3/900 in great shape? It's only $800 with a $400 instant rebate.

For $800 you can find one of the older 1.83 MBs.. don't waste that much money on the iBooks. Heck, I think a refurb 1.83 C2D MB from Apple is only $850.

Yeah... I don't mean to threadcrap on the people trying to sell to you, but once you reach the magic number of $800, there are only two or three reasons to get something with a PPC processor (i.e. G3 or G4):
1) Because you want a 17" screen (other than (2) below, I don't see any reason to get a 15" PB over a 13" MB).
2) Because you're using Adobe CS2 or some other app that runs better on PPC than on Intel.

Or if you want a 12" inch! Yes Apple has the MBs but they aren't quite as small and cuddly as the 12" inches. I've had atleast a dozen people tell me over the course of owning my computer that they love it and want to buy it. I tell them they no longer sell them. I've even been asked twice if they could buy it straight off of me. Unfortunately at the time I needed it! The 12"s charm is not to be overlooked.

I think the 12 inch powerbooks were probably the coolest notebook ever created!

I'm with you on that -- I too am waiting to see what my options are because everything out now is too big and heavy. But the OP didn't say anything about that. And I'm still not sure I'd spend north of 6 on one. :(

I visited a local store and saw a 17" PowerBook G4 for $599. Specs, from memory: 1GHz, 60GB, Airport Extreme & Bluetooth, Superdrive, backlit keyboard, 768mb(?)RAM. It doesn't come with a power adapter though.
It comes with some free dents and scratches but it's a used PB G4 and it's inexpensive.

It's an authorized reseller which also takes trade-ins towards new Macs.

It was probably a TiBook, not an AlBook. Nobody wants a TiBook, no matter how fast it is. (well, some people love 'em - I don't)

1. There was never a 17" TiBook.
2. I know what it was (http://www.lowendmac.com/pb2/17in-g4.html). :)

I didn't pick it up, but I told a friend about a good deal on a 14" iBook G4. She bought it. It's her switcher machine.

I have a 12" iBook that is in really good condition, still has Apple Care left on it. It's a 1.06 GHz, 40 gig and Tiger. Apple replaced the upper bezel, keyboard and hard drive last month for me, therefore it looks "spiffy".
I am looking for $530 shipped anywhere in the US. I am Pay Pal verified and my ebay user name is kevin_8_31_65

$700 was a starting offer. Like sticker price.
The model seems to be going on ebay for about $600 - $750, depending on condition. So, if you want to make an offer, feel free.
