MacRumors Clan? Sounds like a good idea

i think we could form a clan, and show those PC gamers:D not just a particular game, either. Any game that more than 1 person has we could play. So.....if you want to, just post..i guess. oh, and any games you play:) we could have live meetings on gameranger, or something. any ideas would be cool :)

me...well, i dont have that many, but im working on that:

Diablo 2 (getting the expansion soon)
Quake 3 (won't work online for some reason)

Wow, i posted this thread earlier today and got one post on it. i guess I need to be posting these threads during peak traffic times.

Anyway, I'll start up the Warcraft 3 clan and be cheiften, because it looks like I'm the only one on Macrumors that still plays the game constantly.

well, i can at least get together the starcraft clan. i would do diablo 2 also, but i need the expansion. i would get the expansion but im already working on getting Brood War, so its kind of tough. There is a macaddict clan for warcraft 3 that I'm in, and although it's not really my place to recruit for it, I just thought I'd mention it's there, so anybody interested can seek it out on their own, at the macaddict forums. Seems like it would make sense to have one big mac clan, since there are only several people at each site who actually participate.

It's going to be on US East and I will usually go to the Channel MacRumors. Note that there is no space in MacRumors. I usually play Frozen Throne now, so if you haven't seen me that is probably why. When we actually do set up the clan, we will do it in original Warcraft 3 to allow as many people as possible to join.

Everyone that is here that is interested needs to inform the others about this clan. Like I have said before, there is nothing we can do until we get 10 interested people.

No one is stopping you from creating your own (free!) account on blogspot.com as we did in an attempt to centralize the many Macrumors members who play games.

I don't think we (Durandal and myself) are going to do anything with the original site and forums. We currently have other plans and as such see no point in devoting our time to reviving the old sites.

Naw, I have no plans for the old websites, think of them as relics of Macrumors history.

I'm too busy with another project and that other project I have in the pipe.

One of them officially launches on July 29th BTW.

I kind of like the MR first because it adds something to the name. For instance [MR]DestroyerofPCs. Comes out Mr. Destroyer of PCs.

Sure, Geocities and Angelfire may not the best choices, but they are free. As I said, I'm not going to help out, because I no longer have any interest in joining a Macrumors gaming clan. I'm am currently occupied with a personal project (eh durandal ;)) and as such cannot spend time reviving old sites. If there truely was a demand/need for the sites, then the ones we started year ago would have taken off and have well become their own community by now.

Im playing warcraft almost daily again.. is there any way we can find each other inside so we can form the clan? I suggest we pick a date and try to get as many ppl logged into bnet so we can at least form the clan, the ones who cant can join later.. but we need a minimum of 10 ppl connected at once the first time.

I propose 7/17, 10 AM ET

I know its kind of early and on short notice, it just works for me.. :)


EDIT: BTW, the tag MR is already in use, we have to come up with another alphanumeric tag of max 4 characters.. maybe MCRM ?

Ok, that settles it. Let's try for 7/18 at noon ET. Try and spread the word about it. We need to get 10 people in there. Remember to use the East server and come in at the right time (don't make a timezone mistake). Also, if you have the Frozen Throne expansion, DON'T USE IT! We can set it up through original Warcraft 3.
