Finally!

After years of trying, I have finally stopped biting my nails! I'm so happy and my fingers have never felt so good! But they're a bitch to keep clean (especially with paint getting underneath and all.)

I keep trying and failing. My nails have never looked this awful, IMO. This is a really stressful summer for me, for some reason. I need to devise a replacement nervous tick, i think.

congratulations :)

Often the key to eliminating a bad habit, is to put something in its place equally stress reducing.

Good for you.

I just keep getting other habits to replace this one.

I did this all the time as a kid, too. My grandmother even offered to pay me for each nail I let grow. I guess I just grew out of it, and now my wife says that my nails are too long and disgusting.

Lesson: You can't win so don't even try.

so did I! When I was 7! jk ;)

Congratulations. One small step for funkywhat, one great leap for his poor fingernails.

funky- what did you do to break the habit?

i've heard of putting clear nail polish on there so you can't really bite em... or something to make them taste bad or something....

just curious if you used some sort of method or just quit "cold turkey"

I used to bite my finger nails also. Congratulations on overcoming the habit. I still tend to pick at my fingers because of hang nails.

my mom did the bad tasting nail polish thing to me.

It was hell. That stuff tastes like **** - but i learned you could suck it up and lick the **** off and then go back to biting.

It was still annoying though.

I just stopped. One day I noticed that they were longer than usual, and I havn't touched them since. I think it may of had something to do with my getting a job, so now I'm too preoccupied to be able to bite them.
