If the laptop you bought doesn't do what you want, then why did you buy it. If it does do what you want, then be happy with what you have. It's not like it wasn't reasonable to assume there were updates coming.

And if worst comes to worst, it'll probably have a very good resale value and you wont be too much out of pocket.

However your laptop probably does exactly what you need, so there's no reason to feel bad.

Im not saying I'm not happy with it...I love it. But it would be nice to save money and have that extra ram and video card. But you think they would be nice? I mean it is new york I live in so everyone is cool.

I've heard of them taking laptops back for a restocking fee but I can't remember what the time period on that restock fee was. 16 days seems a bit long, though.

I am confused. Are you saying you think there is a new laptop coming out today (which there isn't) and you think Apple should just give you one?

Oh wait because you live in New York? Ok that'll happen then because studies show Apple stores in New York replace perfectly good machines up to 180 days after purchase if something new comes out.

I hope you get a new one. Post pics when you do!

If it was within the standard 14-day return period ... but it's not.

for one buying a notebook three weeks before wwdc isn't wrong. if the notebook is what you want then buy it and be happy.
and all the people who buy today will have either a Rev. A notebook or a new configuration is released in 3 weeks or a subnotebook is released in 4 weeks (things like this happened before!). there is always something.

take your notebook and be happy. you got a solid, great MBP with all flaws and problems resolved. That's why i most likely will go for a MB today even if they are not santa rosa. unless apple comes up with something earth shattering.

When purchasing technology Rule #1:

Ask yourself the following question, "If an updated version of this product were to come out tomorrow or the price were to suddenly drop, would I still be happy with what I bought today at this price?" If the answer is no, start researching to find out whether or not speculation has the product updating in the near future.

Technology is always changing and advancing. Never be surprised if a massive update or price cut happens within days of your purchase, and if your purchase does what you need it to, then be happy you have a working product that does what you need. Any exchange will also bring about the possibility of a defective product that will chew up tech support time that you could have been using to work with what you originally purchased.

I Had to buy it Because I needed it for work...But Whats up with all the negative attitude? Come on Im just a guy tryna get the best ot of my hard earned Money.

The negativity comes from the number of threads like this that show up here every time a product is updated. There is a rash of "I bought Y, X days ago, how do I exchange it for the updated version?"

Apple outlines it's return policy (http://www.apple.com/legal/sales_policies/retail_us.html) fairly clearly. You are outside of the window so your return/exchange is unlikely, although you might be able to pull it off.

Some of us are negative because we feel like you're trying to cheat the system. You bought a laptop outside of the 2 week return window and now you're going to try to get the updated version for free. What about they guy who bought the day before you? Does he get an update? what about the day before that? where do you draw the line? Apple seems to do it at 14 days.

Others are negative out of jealousy, you have a better machine than ours by a long shot already and you're going to try to bend/break the rules to try and get an even better machine.

There are even some who are negative simply because of the inevitability of progress is pretty obvious and when you buy technology that suits your needs at the time you forfeit rights to complain about future updates that you didn't get because you bought what you needed when you needed it and that's what really matters updates should not be a bother.

You seem to have an attitude of "I'll try for an exchange but if not, meh." But there are plenty of people who get really irate because they think they are entitled to the update because they bought only X days ago and some will take out their frustration with such users on you in this thread.

Go ahead and try your exchange. If it works, good for you, if not be happy that you got over 2 weeks of work out of your new machine that you would not have gotten had you waited 16 days to get what could be some buggy first run updated MacBooks.

Youve been registered for a month. So i'm guessing you knew the update was coming soon. I was going to buy at the end of April but waited for the May supposed release date. You should have just waited if you knew you were going to want the new one. I did, and it sucked waiting, but i'm glad i waited now.
