I'm really looking into upgrading from my MacBook Pro to the newest one and wanted to know much much I could get for this on Craigslist.

MacBook Pro 15"
2.0GHz Core Duo
2GB of RAM
80GB 5400RPM hard drive
ATI Radeon X1600 128MB of VRAM
SuperDrive
2 Batteries, both with less than 40 charge cycles
AppleCare until October of 2009
Speck Products clear case included

MacBook Pro is in fantastic condition, no dents, no scratches, screen is great also with no dead pixels or any defects. Trackpad has barely been used and keyboard has been only used with an iSkin, so that is in great condition also. The MacBook Pro has babied all it's life and it is in a smoke and pet-free house. So, what do you think it's worth?

Which city in SoCal?

I would assume you could get more for it in LA than in San Diegeo cause there is a higher demand thanks to the film industry here. Lots of film students that need machines for FCP - that's how I sold my old G4.

Well, it's Craigslist, so I'd say maybe $2,200 total.

I live near Murrieta, it's about an hour or so away from San Diego.

Dang, I've got a 15" MBP CD with a 7200 RPM 100G HD, 2G of RAM, SuperDrive, Speck case (red), 802.11n AirPort and AppleCare through January of 2010, and if it's worth $2200 I'm ready to sell it and upgrade to a newer MBP.

Are you really seeing these sorts of prices for this model? If so, I need to do some selling...

My guess is an offer from Craigslist will consist of a trade for A) 2lbs of some illeagal substance, B) a handgun of some sort, or C) a 1973 Beetle.

If you changed your MBP CD's wireless adapter to the 802.11n, won't that void your warranty?

I *guess* it might, unless the old AirPort card is included to be swapped back in. Or I could swap it back in prior to the sale, if the buyer wanted me to.

Warranties are somewhat subjective. If I can open the case without damaging anything, and all the contents are where they're supposed to be, what does it matter? Especially when the one doing it has Apple tech certification. Of course, one can always feign ignorance, too.

(I am not advocating voiding warranties or being deceptive.)

I sold my:

1.83Ghz Core Duo
80Gb
1Gb
X1600 128mb
15.4"
No Warranty

For 1300$ Canadian. Not too bad considering I bought it for $1799 last may.

I would bet that they meant to put C2D instead of CD. And I can really expect to get $2200? Wow, I didn't think that I could get that much, I was hoping for $2000 at least.

Nope. It's a 15" CD. One of the last before the C2D came out. And if it's worth $2200 on the secondary market, it's for sale.

Are you kidding me? What kind of people do you have buying Apple hardware in Colorado?

Here in Minneapolis, you could maybe get $1,400ish for that machine because of the upgraded memory, extra battery, and AppleCare, definitely nothing over $1,600.

I was happy when I got $100 (my asking price) for my old G4 Sawtooth via CL.

Whoa... no no no. You are sadly mistaken.

MacBook Pros are PLENTIFUL in Socal... I would say that the computer alone without AppleCare or extra battery would go for $1200 - $1300 at the most. The AppleCare and extra battery, etc would make it $1400 - $1500. But I can't imagine you'd get more than that... I think $1500 is already a stretch.

If we started a prize pool as to actual sale price, I'd put $10 on $1400.

(I'm from Socal and sell on craigslist a lot... so I do happen to know a thing or two about it.)
