View Full Version : Big Boy Sale! TIME FOR A SR MBP.

So I'm selling my first Mac, my last gen. Powerbook 12" 1.5 Ghz. I know people love these little baby. And so have I but next semester for my degree I need to be able to run Windows so I need a new one with Intel. Hopefully Apple introduces a super small model 2morrow. But either way this machine, my self-entitled big boy, is up for sale.
Its specs:
1.5Ghz
80GB HD
Superdrive
BT 2.0
1.25GB RAM
OS 10.4
Now its shape....
Yeah its not in the best of shape. A bit mangled and banged. So.... its nice but a little bumpy. No sratches or anything. It also has a couple other problems. Well it sort of freezes when moved more than a couple inches while not asleep. So its really best for a computer that will be sitting around on desks. It also has this peculiar problem that sometimes it gives this white screen and an error upon boot. I just have to put in the OS install discs and then restart. A little annoying but does not happen often.
So I realize while its fully loaded, it does have some issues. So I'll try to get maybe $300 for it. Please....
But I do understand that it will most likely not sell as a whole. So I'm up to parting it out.
2 x 12" PB Batteries
1 x 1.0GB PC2700 RAM
1 x 80GB 2.5" HD ATA
1 x 200GB 3.5" HD IDE
1 x Power Adapter for PB or iBook: 85W if I remeber correctly.
1 x Power Adapter for iPod.
2 x iPod earbuds. Sealed.
1 x iPod USB cable.
1 x Wireless Logitech Wireless
1 x Belkin USB Flip KVM for Mac and Windows. (great product!)
1 x Belkin BT Toggle
1 x Belkin 802.11g PCI-card. Works on Macs.
1 x PB Boot CDs
1 x 40GB 1.8" HD for iPod
Any components from the PB. Keyboard. Motherboard. LCD. Make me an offer and what you want.
The Following is from two PowerMacs which I might part if I get good enough offers:
1 x 450 Mhz G3 ZIF
1 x 450 Mhz G4 ZIF
4 x 256MB RAM for PowerMac G3/Early G4
2 x ZIP 100 Drives for PowerMacs
2 x PowerMac Motherboards
PM or E-mail (e-mail preferred) what you want and a price in mind and I'll let you know what I was thinking off :).

Pictures? :)

I'll just provide a little commentary for the pictures:
1: Here is the computer.
2: The bump in the corner that is the main dent.
3: Different angle.
4: A little warping on the side. All these are purely cosmetic and do not affect the functionality any bit. CDs load and eject perfectly.
5: Just a view of some of the ports. The felt you see in these pictures is kinda disgusting, I know. Its a little thing I bought to protect the metal from corrosion from the sweat of the palms. I have changed them once and I can take them off and assure to you there will be no glue underneath and the metal will look just like the day you bought it. Same for the trackpad. I have a covering over it. I can remove it and it will look brand new.
6: Showing how the computer runs. 10.4 with expose and....
7: Spotlight! Has Airport Express and Bluetooth.
8: And here is my bluetooth keyboard and mouse that I use with it.
9: The computer closed. It closes fine, it is not bent or anything. Both sides are the same height.
10: Top view. Computers asleep as the light shows.
11: Little small dent above the vent in the back. YOU WILL NEVER SEE IT while using the computer, so...
12: A case that I'm willing to let go with the computer. It is made for 12" Powerbooks. Its a protective sleeve that molds right onto the PB. After I sell it I really don't know any computer that will fit it!
13: Quick Screenshot of About this Mac. 1.5Ghz. 1.25GB RAM. OS 10.4

if you end up parting it out I may be interested in the superdrive, depending on the price and how much the shipping would be. If you are interested in parting it out send me a PM with what you want for the superdrive.

Current charge capacities of the two PowerBook batteries? Are their enclosures also mangled? Are either covered under one of the battery recalls?
And with respect to the 80GB 2.5" HD...did it happen to be in the laptop when the mangling occurred?

Haha... sounds like a question in the court room.
And this alleged mangling, you saw this first hand? No? Then how do you know it happened 100%? Could it have been purposely mangled and not accidentally as you say?
My guess is the HD was inside... where else would it have been? Would have been very convenient for the HD to just not be present when laptops get damaged.

Current charge is around 94-95%. I can't rember exact exact. But I know last time I checked last month it was well into the 90s. They might be slightly mangled but I fine a hammer and screwdriver (used as a chisel) can get anything to fit. :p
The HD was. The entire case is not mangled though. It was just dented up. So I doubt if any of the internal components were warped or "mangled". It isn't like an entire warping just a dent.
And chipchen.... lol!

Haha, I ask because the mangling looked bad enough to destroy a hard drive, which would mean he since got a new one. I'm not interested in a hard drive that happened to be in a computer that took any sort of beating, since I've already lost two hard drives in my PowerBook ;)
