View Full Version : Would you sell your 17" G4 PowerBook for 15" G5 PowerBook?

If next PowerBook revision brings 15" PowerBook with G5 while 17" and 12" PowerBook remains with G4 for some reason (17" and 12" were introduced with Aluminium casing while 15" remained with Titanium casing), would you sell your 17" G4 PowerBook to get 15" G5 PowerBook?

Why bother asking we won't see G5 PB's until next spring/summer.

However i do think we will see 15" PB updates at MWNY. The update we be new G4's and changed to the aluminum case with backlit keyboard and air port extreme.

If a G5 15" was being sold, and I owned a 17" PB, sure I'd sell it. I want a 15", not a 17" PB. The 15" won't look too much smaller than the 17" and it will be faster. Ooooh, and it won't weigh as much. All positive things to consider. :cool:

No way, the 17 IS considerably bigger than the 15 in terms of screen, I recently had to return my 17 to Apple, and while it was gone I borrowed my old 15 from the Uni, the screen seemed very cramped when using FCP or DVD st pro, and it was a real pain when running ProTools or Logic.

It was a real relief when the 17 came back.

What I really want is a 17 G5 powerBook.:D

Well, I don't think that its going to happen. because if that did happen the sales of 17" powerbooks would probably drop dramatically.

Exactly. I don't see Apple releasing a 15" G5 unless they release a 17" G5 along with it.

I have a 17" PB, and I wouldn't trade it for a G5 with a 15" screen.

The 17" runs plenty fast for what I do, and I love the big screen.

The 17" is HUGE in comparison to the 15". I scooted the 15.2 away from the 17 ...that beast demands space.

I'm holding out for that G4 15.4 with the nightlight.
