Will iphone have gps on it? or is it just google maps
How much will it cost? How many different models?
Is it gonna be worth using it as an ipod or is it just better to buy an ipod?

These questions are already answered, or at least being discussed, in a number of other forums.

I can't believe gps will not be on it also. Especially since the FCC mandate some years ago. I saw a complete gps chip no larger than the fingernail of a baby. *Could* it still be a possibility that it is one of the 'secret' features they are trying to keep hidden until it goes on sale? I don't know why they would keep it a secret so it probably most definitely won't have one, just me trying to think of excuses why there could still be one.

Probably a bad choice of words. Mandated location services for 911 which can be achieved other ways.

E911 capability (a locator device, essentially) is not the same thing as GPS that lets you locate yourself against a satellite. Navigational GPS is a different technology than E911, which I believe all phones do have now.
Sorry, i realized I quoted the wrong post, that was to the post above.

Ah, I see. I would LOVE GPS on the iPhone, but it seems like the technical specs are pretty much set in stone. Steve would have probably touted something as sweet as GPS and Google Maps integration back in January, as this probably would have been a major selling point.
But we can always hope! :)

The E911 built into phones uses AGPS, which provides some location data. It's not as precise as GPS, but it's not bad either. The question that remains is whether or not the Google Maps application built into the iPhone can take advantage of the AGPS data. I know on my Motorola Q there's no way to do it without paying for the service.

4GOD, is that you? Haven't we been through this bullsh** once before? If not, keep your Jesus-lovin' off the main threads. Follow Carlin's 3rd Commandment...keep thy religion to thyself!
