£1158.79 if you take 14.1% off £1349..

Anyways, dhc's isn't new, nor does it have the full warranty. The graphics card isn't important to me and the iMac is due for an update (rumours from this website pointing to July/August time, so not far away). £900 is around the value I'd place on it.

A sale item is only ever worth what someone is prepared to pay, and in balance, the iMac is worth more to me than the values that have been discussed here. That said, I appreciate the interest and everyone's input - it's been an eye opener!

For now, I'll be keeping the iMac. Adamo - good luck with any future purchase, and will0407, hope your sale works out.

Thread closed - Mods, could you please do the honours?

Thanks.

David

Hey,

How much is this? Not really in the game of guessing prices..

Yeah, how much are you looking for? I don't wanna make a stupid offer.

dhc, would you be intersted in (assuming I can shift my blackbook) a trade for a formac 2010 display and some cash. It's a 20 inch monitor, and I can include the dvi cable so you can connect you macbook to it. (I'm moving into a house soon for Uni, and there's not enough desk space in ym room for a monitor and laptop)
let me know

Just had a look at your marketplace post - had your macbook been the C2D model, we could definitely have come to some arrangement, as ultimately, I intend to also sell my entry level Macbook and replace it with the high end, and probably an external monitor at some point.

As it is though, I'm not yet in the market for an external monitor. Sorry. Best of luck with the sale.

Hey,

I don't want you to guess a price. If you are interested, why not post or PM what you consider to be a fair price and we'll start from there. If you are not interested, maybe you have a useful opinion anyway.

2 months does not age a computer much, but I appreciate that computers are probably only second to cars in terms of depreciation -I asked for guidance in the OP because simply, I'd like some guidance.

I notice you post a lot in the Marketplace, have you seen anything on your travels to offer a benchmark?

I'd appreciate any suggestions on what this is worth (from interested and non-interested members, but in the meantime, I'll give some more consideration to what I feel is a fair price (however off the mark it may transpire to be).

I don't think the difference between core 2 duo and core duo is particularly great. Yes, mine is "only" a 2Ghz model, but 0.16 Ghz isn't going to make a noticeable difference. The ram is maxed out, and the HD is a good size- you can always replace it with a bigger one if you wanted.

I'd swap my MB and monitor for the imac (you can keep the keyboard and mouse to use with monitor as I already have them.)

I had a look on ebay, and 24" imacs with same spec as yours have been going for around £1000. This one ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Apple-iMac-24-2-16Ghz-2GB-250-GB-1-Mnth-Old_W0QQitemZ270132963789QQihZ017QQcategoryZ4603QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ) went for £850 and it had 2GB ram, although that seller had no feedback.

If you get £1000, i think you'll have done well.

(if you're interested in the swap I've offered, then you can checkout my feedback http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=will_0407&ftab=AllFeedback ) If there's anything else you want, or are maybe thinking about getting, let me know- i may by some ridiculous coincidence have it. (bit random, but if you play badminton, I could give you some decent rackets. They retail at £90, although you can get them online for £75 (I have 5). I'm getting a sponsorship next season, so may not be able to use my current rackets as theyre a different brand- all depends on the clauses in the contract.)

Thanks for the offer, it is tempting, but I'll pass. I'm after a 'n' enabled Macbook.

Thanks for your thoughts - I really didn't think it would have depreciated that much. My assumption was that due to the nearly new nature of the machine, it would have held a better price. Having mulled it over last night, I thought that £1,200 would be a reasonable asking price; £150 less than a new base 24" model, and with the upgraded graphics card, a total saving of £230(ish). Like I said in a previous post - not really sure where to price it, so I appreciate your suggestion, but I think a £400+ hit in 2 months is too much to stomach - I might just hold onto it for a while.

Apple currently have the same spec unit in their refurb store with 12 months warranty for £1179.00

I would think that a depreciation of minimum £100 pounds off that price for 2 months less warranty, so a good price would be around the £1000 to £1100 mark.

However, if you don't want to take that sort of hit on it, keep hold of it, or trade with someone.

To be fair, I don't think the price you\ll be able to sell at will alter a great deal until a new one comes out, or maybe until a month before new ones are rumoured to be out.

As iBecks says, you can get one on apple for 1179, so I think you should be looking for about 1000-1100 for yours. Even if you sell it a few months down the road, I'd still say it'll be worth the same price.

The iMac on the refurb store comes with the lesser graphics card, but I take your point about depreciation due to reduced warranty term. Thanks for your input. I don't think a straight trade for a C2D (superdrive) Macbook is on the cards given that the (stock) top end model is £950, but perhaps trade + cash depending on age/model/condition etc?

I saw that yours had an upgraded graphics card, of course that would make a difference to the price, couldn't say how much though.

It can be difficult to sell on nearly new hardware, especially when you have to compete with the manufacturer selling refurb products with full warranty and possible updates looming.

Good luck with the sale.

Hey,

I post a bit as I'm usually interested in stuff in the UK here, but most of the time I don't get a response or it's just not what I want (I have bought a couple of things though, hwh).

I'm interested in this, but with educational discount it brings the price of a new unit down considerably. It works out as £1160 for a new 24" iMac, with full warranty.

I'd offer £900 off the bat, just to test the water.

It's 1173 with the educational discount, but that doesn'tome with the upgraded graphics card, whereas dhc's does.

£1158.79 if you take 14.1% off £1349..

hmm, i just went on the higher education via my uni network, and it said it was 1173. Anyway, difference is peanuts when you're spending that much!
