I have an idea of what I think it is worth but I want to gauge the opinions of others here on MacRumors. So what do you think a laptop with the specs listed below is worth today on eBay, Craigslist or here on this forum?
Gateway M685
Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 @ 2.16GHz
17" 1680x1050 Glossy LCD
2GB DDR2 PC-5300 RAM
nVidia go 7800 w/ 256MB RAM
80GB 7200rpm SATA HD
DVD-RW Drive
Intergrated Memory stick reader
Full keyboard w/ Number pad
12-cell Lion Battery
Gigabit Ethernet and Intergrated Modem
USB 2 & Firewire 400
Windows XP Professional w/ Vista Business installed
Thickness from 1-3/8" to 1-1/8"
No warranty left
Overall in good condition. The top lid is plastic and has a fair amount of surface scuffs from being put in the bag repeatedly.

Probably in the $1200 range just because of the Hard Drive Size.

Wrong. Replies like this really irritated me when selling my PC, but I ended up getting slightly less than what I wanted for it--not because I was selling a PC on a Mac board, but because I was tired of waiting for a sale at $50 higher. And I tried eBay/craigslist weeks before making a thread here. No luck.
Would you enjoy someone posting this in your sale thread?

huh
However,
When it was released a year or so ago, it was close to top of the line, but now they are fairly average, therefore...........
whatever they are going for on ebay, then you'd probably get $100-200 less around here, mainly due to it's age, being out of warranty & overall physical condition.....
some pics would really help though :)

I would advise you to put it on Craigslist as well as here. To say that you aren't going to get a fair price because this is a Mac Forum isn't true. I sold my PC on here and was getting offers for what I thought was fair. You won't get as much interest and will get people telling you it's worth nothing, but plenty of PC's are sold on here. I would venture to guess more PC's then Mac Towers, it's just the interest level.
As for the price $150-$250 less then eBay, but if we could see pictures of the case it might clarify things.

Just a thought, don't expect to sell it here.
This is a "feeler" thread, you simply asked what it was worth. Hence, the comments about it. If you make a FS thread and list a price, I'd be willing to be almost no one leaves funny comments about it, and how little they'd pay, becuase you didn't ask a question, you told a price.
So if you have decided to sell it, make a FS thread, and try to sell it for about $200 less than they go for on Ebay.
