i dont know much about older pcs other than theyre not worth much but the computer man at work was going to throw them in the trash so i took them and brought them home.

there are 7 hp vectra ve. they all appear to have a 500mhz pentium iii, a cd drive, some have 128 mb of ram and some 256 mb of ram. (its the same ram that is in my blue and white g3 im pretty sure). the hd's are between 6gb and 10gb. they have windows 98 on them but he asked me to erase the hd before i did whatever i did with them.
PIC: they look just like the ones in this auction (not my auction, just using the picture as a reference) http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-Vectra-VE-PC-500Mhz-128MB-RAM-CHEAP-Desktop-Work-NR_W0QQitemZ290130526272QQihZ019QQcategoryZ140072QQtcZphotoQQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

there are also 4 little computers, hp e-pc c10. they are about the size of a big book. there were used at our printing press stations thats why they had these small ones. i turned on one and it had win 98, 700mhz pentium celeron, 10gb hd, and 64mb of ram. they have room for a very skinny cd drive but these dont have a cd drive.

any thoughts? are these worth selling? should i just take out the ram, cd drives, and hd and trash the rest?

any thoughts, suggestions, how much i should ask for them?etc . . . .

thanks!!!

to clarify, the HD's will have no OS on them and will be wiped clean since they were used in the offices were i work.

Assuming the machines come with a valid Windows COA glued to the side, do some good and find a charity that can use them, and donate the labour to clean them up and install them.

If you have to erase them, and they don't come with Windows installer CDs or licenses, then you'll need to set them up on Linux. Don't pirate Windows.

(companies often want to dump old computers on charities and schools, leaving the charity with a huge job, which they can't afford, to make them ready for use)

64 and 128 Mb RAM modules and used 4 - 13 Gb hard drives are not worth the time to list and sell.

Or if you don't have Windows, and don't want to go through the hassle of getting Linux on there and then introducing it to your favorite charity, you can just recycle it. Apple offers a recycling program, for one.

I would buy one of the little ones from you. If you decide to sell them, PM me.

Do the mini PCs have USB, PS2, and e-net?

I had a toaster for two years at work. I freaking hate those things.

While the Cylon reference is appreciated, don't crap the good man's thread.
