My PowerBook has died on me and I need to sell it so I can work on getting a replacement. Apple Hardware Test says the vram is bad; everything else is fine. My signature about sums it up...it's a revision D/combo drive. The outer case is in excellent condition, with some "wear" on one side of the palm rest (small specks where aluminum eroded, for lack of a better term). The aforementioned wear is common as I understand it, and also difficult to notice. The screen is perfect. The 1 gig stick of RAM is a little over a year old and is original Samsung. I have all the original packaging, adaptors, etc.

Just wanting to see it there is any interest. If anyone would like pictures or more information, just post or PM.

I can get pics up when I have a chance to get to another computer and post them (using iPhone for now).

I'm not really sure what these are worth when in need of a logic board. Everything else is in perfect working order, including the 1gb Samsung stick. I may sell that separately if someone wants the PB but has no use for the extra RAM, and would rather not pay for it. If anyone has suggestions on a price range, I'm open to hearing them. I've checked ebay, but could only find two Rev. A's that were for parts, so I haven't been able to gauge the value of this thing.

Could anyone help me figure out what my PB is worth in parts? I'd like to sell it ASAP, but I'm having trouble determining the value and I haven't received any suggestions. The parts I can think of are the 1gb stick of samsung RAM, AP card, Bluetooth card, optical drive, 60g hd, LCD, AC adaptor....

Any ideas of the value of these parts would be appreciated. I just need an idea so I can put a price on it.

If you parted it out:

Casing components - $80 - $100
LCD Screen - $65
Optical Drive - $35
Hard Drive - $30
AirPort Extreme Card - $20
RAM 1GB - $55
AC adapter - $35
Dead logic board - $20

So, if you parted it out... I'd say you could get about $350. Mind you, these are prices I think will sell. You can probably get slightly higher waiting it out... but not by much.

Together, I would value the PowerBook at about $250 - $300.

I would offer $175. That's because I don't need it that much, but I buy broken computers from time to time for parts. That's already higher than I normally pay for broken computers.

Thanks for the info and explanation. Overall, I guess that's about what I was expecting. Here's some pictures (on BayIMG) for those who are interested...

My seller profile on ebay is the same as my username here. I will sell the 1gb of RAM separately if anyone would just want that. I may sell the AC adapter separately as well if there is any interest.
