With the possibility of new imacs soon, piles of medical bills, and this mac pro being over kill, i was wondering what i could get for it. heres the specs:

Apple mac pro 2.66 ghz
3 GB ram (3 pairs of 512 sticks, all apple oem ram)
one 250 gb hd
three 160 gb hd's.
7300 gt vid card
dual super drives (pioneer 111d and 109)
wired keyboard and might mouse
built in bluetooth and wifi
original box, disc, etc...(down to the twist ties and styrofoam)

no apple care before anyone ask, but have not had any problems with it.

also have a samsung syncmaster 940bw 19" widescreen lcd that would need to go if the mac pro went.

any thoughts?

When did you buy it because that'll have an overall impact on whether or not someone can get applecare for it.

for what its worth, heres an idea of what im hoping for:

for the mac pro and the monitor im hoping to get around $2800.
my reasoning for what its worth:

a stock mac pro online is 2500. add 100 for another superdrive and add 80 for bluetooth and wifi, totals 2680 for the mac pro with no ram or hd upgrades.

im asking 2800 so for 120 more than what youd pay for buying from apple for 2680 you get 2 extra gb of apple oem ram, 3 extra hd's that are 160 gb each, and a widescreen lcd 19" samsung monitor. and thats not even figuring in tax (which here in sc would be about 150 on an item of this price) all safe and sound in original boxes and styrofoam packaging.

umm, the fact that it's used takes off at least 10%

any thoughts?

In the past 3 days two MacPros have sold on these boards:

Quad 2.66, 6GB of ram, 1.3TB of HD, BT no wifi, 7300GT & 24" Dell 2407FPW = $3100
Quad 2.66, 5GB of ram, 1.3TB of HD, BT no wifi, 7300GT & 23" Apple CD = $2900

You have half the ram, slightly more than half the HD space but dual superdrives and wifi.. I think $2600 is about right.

That said, I don't know many macpro users who would lust over a 19" samsung lcd... call me crazy, but I don't think it adds a LOT to your sale.

as someone who just bought new and upgraded, I'd just remove the hard drives and ram and sell it as stock. 160GB drives are old news junk, and 512 sticks will just be removed and replaced with 1 or 2GB chips each.

Sell it as the base model for 2100 and it'll move, and just sell the other stuff on ebay or keep it for something else.

I know it's sad, but people might pay a good price for a used Mac Pro, but no one in their right mind is also going to pay a good price for used 160 drives or used 512 sticks of ram. Hell, I wouldn't even pay 20 bucks for a 160GB drive at this point.

the base mac pro you can sell for what, 85% of new? all that other crap, the drives, ram and monitor, you'd be lucky to get 30%. Don't bulk price it.

Gotta agree with this. At this point, a 160GB drive in a Mac Pro is a criminal waste of a hard drive slot....

So there is a super great chance Apple care is not available for it right? If you bought it in August you think then by the time the transaction is over it may be too late. I'm just sticking a feeler out there but if there is no chance for applecare I'm not interested.

i honestly dont even know how apple care works other than it adds time to your warrenty. ive bought a couple of macs and several ipods and have never gotten applecare, so im not sure. i will look up the exact date i bought it.

i did an online chat at apples store and the person said you could add applecare within one year from the original purchase
