Looking for simple preamp & mic

Terribly new at this audio junk and haven't a real clue what I'm doing or looking for, so bear with me. Just been told that I probably need a simple pre-amp such as the Griffin iMic (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BVV2IC?ie=UTF8&tag=tinaracom-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000BVV2IC). So something like that but preferably cheaper. :o

I'm also looking for a simple mic that can stand on it's own (so it could er, be like, not in the picture).

What are you going to use it for?

A good part of the reason why I'm hoping a kind MRer will have something just layin' around that they'd let go of for cheap. :o

I would suggest something like this for good quality recordings. I have this mic and it is great. It plugs in via usb so this is all you need.

Well, assuming that you need something more than the built-in microphone on your MacBook... I might have something that can hook up to the audio input jack. But I'm going on vacation tomorrow, so I wouldn't be able to send it until Aug. 3rd. :p

That mic looks awesome. I have never seen a USB mic before. Cool :)
