I was helping somebody out with a replacement for their dead G4 iBoook (800Mhz), and they gave me what was left of the thing. I've taken some of what I want from it, and figured I'd give anybody here looking for parts a shot.

There is:

*Bottom-half case and frame; the bottom of it is pretty scuffed up, but the palmrest area is ok, and I assume the trackpad works. Might be nice if you want to do a mod project.

*Complete screen unit. I can't test it, but it should work ok, and is in decent shape.

*Keyboard. Looks fine, probably works although I can't test it.

*Power brick. Tested, works fine.

*Two batteries. Both are completely discharged and physically quite scuffed up, but as far as I know both work, minus a moderate number of charge/discharge cycles.

*Combo drive. Tested, works.

*Heatsink, fan, modem riser card, and all the other various bits that hold the thing together--screws, drive brackets, flat cables, the little power connector sub-board, speakers, etc.

The cause of death was a tea spill; it seeped in around the latch on the front and physically blew a few chips in the hard drive area on the motherboard, which toasted the hard drive. As far as I can tell that's all that got damaged, though--everything else looks fine visually, and there are no liquid stains elsewhere. It's possible that the keyboard and/or screen are toast, but I'm guessing they're ok. I don't have another iBook around, so all I could test was the brick and optical drive, both of which are ok.

I'm basically looking for a good home for the parts before I stick them in the closet for future use, so I'm up for just about any offer. Obviously everything's as-is.

PM or email me though the forum if you're interested.

Sorry about taking all day to reply to the enquiries; I managed to lose my wedding ring today, so spent a nice evening dumpster diving instead of doing Mac things.

Answers:

- 12" screen. Sorry I forgot to mention that.

- I got two offers for the power brick before yours, ChrisBrightwell, so they'll get first crack at it, but you're third on the list.

Photo of the brick and the connector on it attached; quality is horrifying because my camera broke and I'm using the iSight on my MBP to take the picture. It's the 24V/1.875A (45W) model with the smaller ring/pin connector used on most newer PowerBooks/iBooks.

In case you meant the connector that's on the iBook itself and the little riser board it's connected to, I attached a picture of that too.

- Since I didn't pay anything for it and I'm not even sure if it works, I'll take any offer you think is reasonable for the screen, weazbert.

PMs responded to as well, and I'll update with parts that find homes.

This is a silly question but is the screen the whole thing with the lid? I actually may only want the plastic lid. I can guarantee I don't want/need the lcd screen.

It's possible I may only want the LCD... we should all work something out.

Update:

Optical drive, screen, batteries, and power brick appear to be spoken for.

jessica and chipchen, weazbert gets first crack at the screen, but if that doesn't work out, hopefully the two of you can split it!

That leaves the top of the case with speakers and trackpad, the bottom of the case, the modem, the iBook's power jack, and the keyboard, plus some odds and ends if anybody wants screws or the heatsink or something.
