Don't you have a secret talent or "sense" that may be so silly or not important (... silly) or complicated to prove taht you haven't share to any one? I have one and you are gonna be the first people on earth to know about it.
I can recall tv shows or movies and see them just as I turn on the tv. For example, today I was doing my stuff outside driving every where working and in the back of my head I had this images of the movie "TOYS" where the grave of the dad was a big elephant in a very huge field, I was thinking about the loghing machine that was allways on. Well, when I got home and turn on tv the movie was on on TNT I think, a movie I haven't see in 4 years or more.
Well, I have recalls like that all the time, I even though that just by the statistics on how many times we have reruns on tv but this is way too particular to make it fall in to "statistics". I have this thing going on since I was a kid. I can not predict what is gonna be on but if I start to think in "Logans Run" for example I may see it on tv. There are a lot of shows that I think about that doesn't show up but the most strangest ones. The think has a caracteristic and is that the show is gonna be on just as soon I turn on the TV and those are shows that I thouigh about them that same day, no the day before.
Well, I have that supernaturals ussless talent or intuition, I wish I could make money from that or make it usefull.
I asume everybody should have something like that that is very stupid but very strange, do you?

Just think of all the times you where thinking about a TV show and then when you turned the TV on, that show wasn't on. Pure coincidence.
Or think of all the times you have purchased a number of items at a store and with tax the total comes out to an even dollar amount, like $67.00. "Oh, that's strange!" Well, think of all the times that it doesn't end up being a even dollar amount and then it doesn't seem so strange.

i remember memories in such a way that I can remember the most insignificant details but not anything significant (i.e. MWSF03 keynote, the time me and Josh decided to get together, my first day of kindergarten)...but that's not really a talent...but occasionally it is very useful.
edit: cant forget my crazy spatial ability...

My brain RAM has not-so-secret talents and not-so-secret flaws.
I remember relative directions. I might not remember what I ate or who I was with the first time I ate at a particular restaurant many years before, but I can remember which direction the entryway was from the parking lot, which way the aisles ran, which position at the table I sat at, etc.
I can recite over 70 digits of pi but I always have to look up my friend's phone number.
I can recognize hundreds of rock n' roll songs by the first few seconds of their intro but I can't name the well-known actor in a movie I'm watching.
I can remember sentences from a book I read 10 years ago, but not the name of the guy I was introduced to at a party 15 minutes ago.
I can describe my quirks but I can't explain them.

I have an good ability to remember phone numbers. If I dial the number 3 times or so and then once a month at least then I'll remember it for a very long time. I'd give you an example of my skills, but it would require posting phone numbers on the web. Not exactly a good idea.

Smoke rings. Like a machine. Big, small, slow, fast -- even in a fair breeze. No smokes? If the air's still enough, I can blow a vapor ring. I could have been a pro.
By the way, I don't smoke anymore, but it's kind of like riding a bicycle.

About the music, that is easy to explain, that is having a good ear, I can do that too specially with 80's music, I have heard them so much that I just hear the firs beat of the base drum and I know actually what son is, Falco, Depeche Mode, Bananarama, etc. Every sound has a particular reverb and equalization, even when you know it is a base drum every single song has a particular sound, specially today that we heard the same songs over and over on the radio. Madonna for example, every time I hear the first 1/2 of a secund I change the station:rolleyes:
That is like when you are in your room and you heard the front door of your haouse opening, you knw when is your sister or your mother because they do it in different way, or the way they hold the keys or even their whay they park the car.

since i quit recording and gigging in 1999, my secret talent has been playing guitar
pretty much the only person who sees me play these days are my wife...and sometimes my friend
in the local music scene, there are a whole new lot of young musicians, so us retired guys can anonymously watch or just walk by and i prolly look like some old businessman or teenager's parent
when i am on the road, i don't listen to music, just talk radio
and at my house, it's tv or videos much more often than a CD or tape
the idea of late night hours in the studio working on a thirty second guitar passage or playing a gig late into the night for free or little money does not appeal to me...now if the music scene was in the middle of the day, i might still be up there doing my thing:p

well, its not really a secret, but I'm good at anything involving flipping in midair - like diving, gymnastics, and wushu.
I get to show off my 'secret' talent all the time though ;).
Everyone is always suprised that I can do acrobatics though - I guess I don't look like a gymnast or anything - but do I look that clumsy?
Another talent might be singing. I don't think my voice has a very good quality, but I think I have very good pitch, and I have a very good range. I just don't think people would want to hear me sing because of my voice quality.
Another hidden talent would be my knowledge of computers. Not many people know that I am a geek. It comes as a shock to most people. I guess I don't act geeky - but I swear I am! ;)
I think those are my main secret talents. :)

I can crash any system, that is not a big deal and I was big on that. My talent came to its maximun expression when I crashed a digital audio console back in 1997 when I was studing multimedia. Dedicated equipment shouldn't do that but I did. I crashed an Indigo SGI machine too just 3 minutes after I put my hands on it, a terrible crash.
A teacher told me that I would be very good Alpha tester, I may be able to crsh a tv too, I haven't try that yet.

i can lick out an entire snack pack pudding cup with my tongue...leaving no pudding behind in the cup or on my face...girls seem to like that talent...:D :D :D
most people don't really understand how it works, but i'm above average at everything i do. i'm not spectacular at just one thing, i'm just above average at everything. it actually sucks a lot, cause i have such a short attention span that when i start getting good at something, i get bored with it and go on to something else and repeat...
i'm an extremely fast learner. all i need to do is see something done once and then pick it up and do it just as well or better as the person showing it to me. this is extremely useful for math and computer science. kingcobra mentioned that he can do "basic calculus 1" in his head, no pencil or paper. at the u of mn, they pretty much don't allow the use of calculators. so everything is pencil and paper. in my calc II class, i got a C on a test for having all the right answers, but not nearly enough work shown on the paper. i felt so cheated on that, but at least one test was dropped. i came back and aced that class.
i also have this way with people. i guess i'm just easy to talk to or something, because EVERYONE i know seems to come to me with their problems. people i'm barely even friends with come to me for relationship advice...that gets really annoying, because i always end up saving their relationships, while destroying my own....my 60 year old boss came to me the other day telling me all about his new girlfriend and asking me what he should do about certain things...if i didn't know better, i'd think i got that raise for a reason ;)
i can also read peoples' facial expressions, body movements, and voice tones very well. no one can get away telling lies to me. it also really helps when i just want to know what people are thinking. i can always tell when one person is attracted to another, without them even saying anything...they really hate it when i walk up to them and say "so are you going to ask (so and so) out?" when they have not mentioned a single thing about (so and so)...
the list just goes on...

I have a friend that remembers every phone number he's ever dialed...
For example... The first time I told him my phone number I only told him once and he remembered it without writing it down.
another example... I had to call the music minister at my church one time when I was with him. I called someone to ask for the number and told it to him to remember. Two years later he told me the number again when we were just sitting around and it was right...

i think in image mode sometimes, as opposed to any language. i think with pictures, not with words. when that happens it's harder for me to explain what i see or think. i also have a very visual memory (but still dyslexic).
and i never remember who is who. i know i've seen someone somewhere but no idea who or what's his or her name, and even in phone i'm ashamed to ask ..
i understand more than i'm supposed to in many languages. sometimes i understand but can't speak and amny times away that has been useful - the others thought "she is only a stranger, she does not understand" ..

i seem to be able to crash any pc i touch. i do nothing out of the oridinary, it just crashes. plus, one i use every once in a while just decides to go back in the web browser on its own, and only for me.
my talent i think though, is that computers that are not acting correctly in virtually any way for someone else, just need my touch to get on the right track. i don't do much, but according to the person, it wouldn't do that 30 seconds earlier. Computers just like me.
Well,
80% of the time, I can tell you who's calling (Given Their calling my Number), and No I donot have Caller ID like my friends believe.
Also, When I was in Michigan last, I would be listening to the Radio, and Get bored with the station, change it, and everytime I'd be in the middle of Sean Paul's Get Busy.
I Also seem to be able to recite Music, and Movie/TV Lines, sometimes having not heard or seen the same in years.
And the ability to tell you who the bad guy is, even when they appear to be good. And, correctly predect the result of something in a movie with between 5 and 25 seconds to spare before it happens. This has helped me to leave a movie or TV show before something happens that would cause an uncomfortable conversation with my parents.

My most useless talent would be my ability to blow ultra high frequenced sounds through my front teeth. I used to do it in class on high school because the teachers never heard it. That's because you lose some of the treble in your ears when you get older. So, all the other students with good ears got really annoyed and all the teachers looked like question marks. I can get the frequency up to about 20khz, but then I can't hear it myself.
My other talents, which isn't so useless, is my perfect pitch and other musical talents. I play piano, keyboards, drums, guitars and bass... Piano is my main instrument though, and in most aspects I'm actually Norways best young jazzpianist at the moment. I just gotta finish my studies and then I'll conquer the world! :D

Now I know we don't see eye to eye with each other often, but I have to agree on the constant "show your work" tradition that teachers emphasize. Most of my calculus problems require little or no work (i.e. skip many steps and not lose track of what is being done). I find that the most annoying part of math quizzes/test: "Show your work" on and on. Then again, it is nice to receive some credit when the opportunity comes around.
Also, Brown avoids calculators like the nile virus.
Another talent I should mention: I can compute any positive integer between 1 and one-less-than 4 billion to roman numerals, and back, real fast (again, no pencil or paper). Now I have known how to do that for years...but if you give me any such number, I can think up the roman numerals for it faster than you thought up the number.
I should also mention a pet peeve of mine: I can't stand cashiers using pencil and paper for calculations, or cashiers, who simply can't count.

I sometimes have dreams about certain situations and then months or years later they actually happen. Of course, it's going to suck when that killer clown that was chasing me around in my dreams is actually going to kill me.
The other talents... well you'll have to ask my girlfriend. ;)

Well, like mnkeybsness, I can read people extremely well, catching lies, deception, and believe me, it's great for playing poker...4 nights at school netted me 72 dollars.
My other talents include being able, pound for pound, to out drink just about everyone I've ever met. (How many people do you know that weigh less than 130 pounds can drink more than 20 beers in a night without vomiting or going to the hospital?)
I do get premonitions, and, although I put very little stock in such phenomena being possible, they come true often enough to really freak me out sometimes.
Also I can do the clover with my tongue, only with 5 and sometimes six points instead of 3...I think thats about it
I can tell you hours before rain comes that it is coming. Same for snow, and no, it's not because the sky is cloudy or I looked at a weather info site or station.
I always know what time it is, and I always know where I am and how I got there, meaning I have a good sense of direction. See, the Boy Scouts are good for something. ;)
I have the thing with the movie lines also, and I never forget a face. I still remember the name of a guy I met at a party freshman year of college named John, that i never saw again, but I could give the police an accurate description right down to the mole he had on the to prigh portion of his right cheek. That was waay over 10 years ago.
Sorry if it seems egocentric. I don't usually like to talk about myself in this regard.
Regards,
Gus

Instant mental arithmetic ready reckoner for converting Euros to pounds sterling and kilometers to miles, and in reverse. Its a godsend when out cycling on the continent because I cant visualise a kilometer, and its great working out how cheap most things in Spain are compared to England.
Itīs a bit of a cheat though because to all intents and purposes its the same formula. Multiply pounds and miles by 1.6 or multiply euros and kilometers by .6 Did the European banks etc set that exchange rate up deliberately for total integration?
I dont do the calcs to the nearest ten decimal points or anything, no need. and the exchange rate fluctuates, but its good enough and leaves everyone going wow as I tell them the answer as they still compute the first numbers. I do pesetas to pounds to Euros too, but not so quick. 1000 pesetas = 4 pounds = 6 euros.

That is EXACTLY how I am. I started getting really good at diving - then I quit. I started getting really good at basketball - then I quit. I started getting really good at gymnastics - then I quit. I started getting really good at martial arts - then I quit.
I am above average at most physical things like that, I am also a very quick learner. I don't know about mental things like school classes though, its hard to tell if you understand something better than someone. But then again, I get the same grades on tests as everyone else and I never do my homework...
So, I know exactly what you mean. The only thing that I have tried and kept up for more than 4 years is computers - I dont think I can get sick of computers.
Oh here is another hidden talent that I forgot:
I can remember URLs really well. Like if someone told me to go to www.angelfire.com/ok/pricetown/jenny, 4 days later I would remember that.
I always amaze my mom with that, we are working on something for my family's small business and she'll go 'what was that URL (well, she would never call it a URL, but you know what I mean)? ' and I would be able to tell her.
This is kind of funny because I have the absolute WORST memory ever. I can't remember the names of my classmates from elementary school. OK, I'll admit that I can - for MOST of them. But I am REALLY bad with names. I took a whole year of Honors English with these 2 twin girls - Katheryn and oh ****...... See?!?!? I can't frikin' remember any names! AHHHH i know it though... I really do know this one....... bah - this is annoying. I look forward to school starting again but I don't look forward to trying to remember names ><.

I usually wake up 1 to 5 minutes before my alarm clock goes off, no matter what time I set it for. I'll be sound asleep and suddenly think it's time to open my eyes. Chances are, it's a couple of minutes before the alarm time. If my alarm was set for the same time each day, it wouldn't be a special talent, but if I set the alarm 2 hours early, I'll wake up 2 hours early, 5 minutes before the alarm.

almost forgot- i can read minds when under the influence of alcohol. no joke. people are constantly surprised. i think the alcohol lowers the inhibitions and drowns out everything other than what i'm focusing on. </thinly_veiled_cry_for_help>

I can drink scolding hot beverages. We are talking boiling hot here.
But once that hot chocolate goes down, there is that leftover and sudden chilling feeling, which must involve another talent of yours somehow...
I can also look at something and imagine how it tastes. This includes most foods, all pure metals, grass, and even computer processors. This is another reason why I keep my window blinds down to avoid looking at our dog's "private spot" :p :D

Too bad it doesn't work on pics. All I can taste is the monitor with a little colorful spice for an added twist.
I have learned many visualistic tastes from this alone. :D

Wow man. That exact same kind of thing happens to me. It was even more spot-on as a kid. i would always think about a particular episode of my favorite cartoon and then lo and behold- come back from school and that episode is on.
THIS IS SO WEIRD! I posted about a particular episode of the Larry Sanders Show today in the "Best Shows that were cancelled" thread, and lo and behold that episode is on tv RIGHT NOW!
Off to buy lottery tickets!

No special talents here. No beat, no singing, no psychic predictions, no pi to 60 billion digits (um...I can do....5, on a good day), I'm terrible at reading people, all I do when I'm drunk is act dumb, I consistently sleep past my alarm (sometimes 2 hours), and calculus...well, lets say we aren't best friends.
Wait, I thought of one...I'm really good at staying up far too late at night and then posting really dumb things...or does that not count?

Not well unless I am looking right at one.
And I'm not taking apart my computer to find out.
