"A booth in the far hall of Tokyo's convention center Makuhari Messe beckons - full body scan and print-out for 2000 yen (about 18 dollars). Lay down, scan, print, twenty minutes and you have a four foot by six foot lifesize print out of yourself in some horizontal posture to frame for posterity."
(I'd LOVE to get one of those done! Wonder if they ever show up at conventions in other places?)

From experience of using a copier, don't understand how the picture comes out so nice. It appears that the lid isn't capable of closing. If the lid is not completely closed then you would get black surrounding the original. Sounds like something unique and fun to try just once. The unique factor! :p

it seems like if it were upgright it would work alot better.....and might be able to cover the subject better too

How would they come out properly? This machine is more useless than Keanu Reeves carrying a script if the lid can't close.

Not bad results - but why do that instead of getting a picture taken? Seems to me that would be much easier ;)

They should get a room! Guess they just wanted a unique way to remember their experience! :p

why not just get an insanely good digital camera that's capable of taking really hi-res shots? Surely that's going to work out cheaper than a flat[kingsize]bed scanner?!?!

I don't think you guys are getting it...have you looked at the link above the photo?
The result really is a unique look, and for less than 20 bucks you get a 4 foot by 6 foot photo.
