For sale is a Pioneer DVR-K05RA slot loading optical drive capable of DVD-RW DL and I believe it's 8x, but you'll have to confirm that on your own. I bought it to put in my PC, but I never got around to doing it and right now, I'm not going to use it. It will also come with an IDE adapter so I can be used in a regular computer with IDE headers. I've tested it and it works just fine!
I'm asking $55 or best offer shipped via USPS. Heat under Collin973 and ebay under Collin627 (26-0-0).
Payment through Paypal or Money Order.

Am I wrong or does that seem high? I bought a single layer burner for about 35 shipped new just about a month ago. (writemaster)

A google search reveals that this is a laptop DVD-RW drive, not a desktop one.
So, the price seems fine to me.

Yea, sorry if i didn't make that clear. This is a slim 12 mm laptop optical drive, that is suppose to be compatible with all mac's.
I will post pics of it momentarily to clear this up.

This is with the IDE adapter mounted on it. With this adapter, this drive can be used on a computer with an IDE header.

hey all,
I was away from a computer for the last couple days.
Just an update: the drive is still available. I've decided I'd really like to move it out, so the new price is $55 shipped. Please let me know if your interested.
It's a great drive and it comes with the IDE adapter to be used on a regular IDE header. I am pretty sure this drive is mac compatible and would make a nice upgrade on an older ibook or powerbook.
Thanks!

Actually last I checked that was a really great price. I bought one of these last year for a PowerBook I am selling and I am very happy with it. One thing, when installing the drive, you cannot put any screws in the bottom right hand side (from facing the front) as they interfere with the drive's loading mechanism and cause the drive not to work.

Would this work in a PC laptop (it sounds like that's what you originally bought it for)? I have a three-year-old HP Pavilion ze5700 with a Toshiba ODD-DVD SD-R6252 that recently (as in, six months ago :)) died on me. I rarely use the computer though, so I have yet to replace the drive, though I'll probably have to do the standard semiannual Windows reinstallation sometime soon.
That being said, I don't know if I can afford it right now, since I just sold my iMac G5 on eBay (for far less that I feel I should have gotten, but that's another story) and am going to buy a new MacBook. :)
Just wondering, in any case.

IIRC it does, but I also know if it doesn't Patchburn will make it work.

Will work in PBG4 with iDVD, no problem. Will work in iMac G5 and up. Will not work in MBP (they use even thinner drives).
I can offer $45 shipped paypal right away if you're interested.

Wow. A lot of responses.
I think this drive is standard equipment on some sort of pc laptop. If you google the S/N you should come up with something.
As for which macs, i'm not sure, but the drive works. You'd have to do some research to figure out for sure.
Also, i don't know if i posted this here, but I am in the middle of a move and I think I (accidentally) brought the drive to my new place, and I won't be able to ship it til next saturday (the 25th). I'll keep looking around here, but I have a feeling i took it there.
As for offers, I'd be willing to do $51 shipped. So, if someone wants to pay me that, I'd be happy to sell it to them. I would appreciate a PM before payment so no one pays for an item they won't get.

Consider this drive to be "Pending" or "Sold."
I have been promised payment, once I figure out where the drive is.
I'll let you know the status of the drive once all is said and done.

What kind of drive is in the Cubes? this would be a great replacement for us Cube owners if it worked/fits.
Good Luck with the sale.
