yep, that's jay..he was driving it. it's not unusual to see him driving around burbank since nbc studio's are here.

it was probably the most outrageous car i've seen on the road...had to be 24 feet long( slightly longer than jay's chin...):D

the thing i like about jay is he has an amazing collection of cars( and motorcycles) and he actually drives them all. nice life....

That actually cool that he gets out and drives the things instead of just letting them sit in a garage.....

So what is the source of Jay's wealth?

The car's neat enough, but I've got to say that it seems that Mr. Leno is seen by millions every night and is still screeming out for attention. I mean, if it meets California emissions standards, hey, let him drive it. It's just...well...a bit much, imho.

It's great to hear the he actually uses his cars & motorcycles. I believe that Jay was born in MA, grew up poor. His earnings comes from "The Night Show." Learn to live frugal growing up. He is living his passion!

here's some jay trivia...

jay has NEVER spent one cent of his earnings from the tonight show( which has got to be in the 10's of millions of $$$)...he considers himself to be a stand-up comic first and foremost. he still does many many shows a year...and that is where his "spending" money comes from.

he does the tonight show tapings during the day then later on takes a private jet out of burbank airport to las vegas to do a show and then jets home.

once again...nice life.

Well he has made over $100 million by now doing The Tonight Show, but is that true that he has never spent a dime from those earnings? He does his show at around 6pm (I think at 5:30pm), so does this mean that he leaves his set at around 8pm or so (taking into account all the little delays and whatever else happens during taping), and leaves to Vegas for a few hours every night? That just sounds odd to me.

how would you do anything other than going in a straight line in that thing?? You'd have to take corners reeeeaaally wide.

Jay is also one of the few people on earth to own a McLaren F1

'Introduced in 1993, McLaren F1 is, by far, the world's most expensive supercar and the fastest one as well.

Designed as a Formula 1 for 2 (or even 3) McLaren F1 feautures a 6.0lt. BMW engine that can reach 60mph (97km/h) in 3.1 seconds. The car incorporates many world firsts for a road car: a fully carbon fibre monocoque structure, fully active fan-assisted ground effect aerodynamics, a central driving position with two offset rear passenger seats.

The car's production has now stopped, after only some more than 100 F1s were built. So you have to try the used car market in order to get your hands on the world's fastest car...'

I would have to state the Enzo is far more expensive car along with getting 9 Miles Per Gallon and it being allowed to be used on commerical roads (crazy that it could)...

The Enzo is likely to whoop the F1 around a racetrack...

The new Veyron looks to be even faster in a straightline, especially as it's AWD and has a dual clutch allowing it seamless acceleration... only road tests will show whether it's a better track tool than the Enzo!

Enzo Vs. Veyron Vs Zonda Vs Porsche GT Vs Merc/Mac SLR now that's a roadtest team!!

I can't believe I actually knew that was Jay Leno before reading the rest of the thread. I never watch his show.

Am I the only one who doesn't see the point in owning a car like that?

There is no comparison.

It's got more horsepower than the Enzo (987 vs. 660), is nearly 40 MPH faster (to 252mph+ sustained speeds) and has more HP per pound than the Enzo (.3 vs .24). It's the only street legal car to match the performance potential of superbikes.

It might be carrying around 600 extra pounds, but it makes up for it in raw horsepower. Ferrari didn't see this one coming.

Of course, it does carry a $1.2 million price tag, about twice the Ferrari, but it is possibly twice the car.

Let's not forget about the Koenigsegg CC. This car is 'up there', in the same class as the Zonda, Enzo, etc, and I wouldn't be surprised if it gave the F1 a run for it's money, either.

I don't think it' as clear cut as you suggest, power output does not necessarily result in being the quickest around a race track, for example the fastest 'Production Car' around perhaps the greatest race track of them all, the Nurburgring is a Radical SR3 Turbo, (which isn't exactly brimming with filthy BHP) not a Zonda, and definitely not the Mac f1...

It (Bugatti) might be the fastest 'production Car' in a straightline drag, (although no where near the hardest accelerating legal road car on the roads), but with it's hefty weight and four turbos it might not be the fastest thing around a track... who knows until the roadtests come in!

Ferrari compromised the straighline speed of the Enzo to excel in other area's, it's 0.3 to 0.4 of a second slower to 60, but it's significantly lighter etc etc.. a factor that is a big bonus around a track, especially when braking and cornering!

It'll certainly be an interesting road test between the 2 but it's definitely not 'Clear cut'... remember the last Bugatti supercar, the EB10 wasn't exactly the pinnacle of motoring excellence!

It's going to make a blinding read though, I bet the road testers can't wait! Lucky bas*ards!! ;) :D :D

I really think the advantages of the Veyron would outweigh any potential the Enzo would have.

It's got AWD, gobs more horsepower and, more importantly, almost twice the torque (922 ft lbs as opposed to Ferrari's 480). It also makes it to 100 km/h .7 seconds faster, not .4.

Of course, for twice the price, you'd expect this, plus the Veyron is a car you could drive every day, unlike the spartan Enzo.

If there is no replacement for displacement, the Veyron wins with 4 more cylinders and 2 more litres. If the replacement for displacement is forced induction, the Veyron wins with 4 superchargers.

Also, the last Bugatti supercar wasn't engineered with VWAG money.

AWD is great on less than perfect tarmac, or when it's slippery... on a racetrack it's advantage isn't as great, and in some respect can slow a car because of the inherent understeer characteristics...

BHP is a moot point, some cars have 2 to 3x the power of the Radical, yet can't get within 30 to 45 seconds of it's lap time around the Nurburgring, it's not just about power or torque, it's chassis capabilities etc etc... it's how the power is put down and how the car performs when that power is applied, all the BHP in the world isn't going to get you anywhere if the chassis isn't great... A great example is drive a moderately powerful standard yank tank saloon car, say 200BHP and then drive an equivalent european saloon and the difference in performance is amazing... one corners, one wallows...

It's hard to guage 0-60 time until the Veyron has been roadtested, that's when the true figures will be realised... it's going to be fantastically fast in a straightline, that's not in question, it's how it takes corner after corner that is going to be interesting, it's heavy, so that will affect it's braking capability (the Enzo is regarded as having the best brakes of any production car), and is the quad-turbo engine going to be tractable as the normally aspirated V12?? is the engine going to be laggy in slow speed corners??

With regards to the last Bugatti sports car not being VAG financed... true... but remember VW's aren't exactly class leaders when it comes to chassis dev. and handling, look at the Phaeton luxo-barge.... will quite literally understeer you off the road, and that's AWD... it's the W12 hanging over those front wheels... nasty!

Can't wait for the roadtest, I just wish Bugatti would stop ar*ing abount and release it.... ;) :D

i agree with ya iGAV, the Veyron is by far the superior car on paper, but sling it around Nurburgring and it could prove interesting... personally i'd love to drive an love round there. beat a lambo miura around goodwood i did one time :)

but anyways, back on topic, that car that Jay Leno is driving is a beast for sure, reminds me of the old race cars, flying around Brooklands, 17 litre engines etc. ahh those were the days, skinny little tyres and oodles of power....

Muira nice... ;) they don't make them like that anymore :( not sure if you've seen photo's of the new Alfa147GTA interior.... very cool and very inspired by the Muira, especially the seats and instrument binnacle!!

I can't wait to read the reviews on the Bugatti, it's certainly and incredible car, I wonder if when/if they do a full roadtest with the Enzo, Veyron, GT, Zonda if they'll bring the twin engined MTM Audi TT which puts out near on 900BHP... just for a comparison.... yummy! :D

that "beast" is in a recent car and driver (or one of those types of mags)....the builder was a glass artist. He decided to build a hot rod...the V12 tank engine has 900hp and is air cooled. Leno owns the original, so now he is making another.

Don't get me started on chitty-chitty bang-bang--my sister watches that move all the time after my dad got it on DVD and will not stop singing the song *shudders* I almost miss the days when she watched Barney, at least with that show, the song isn't as grating on the nerves. More on topic, I'd love to even be around any of those cars...makes my '89 Ford Probe GT seem pitiful by comparison (hmm...1001 hp vs 145 hp...I bet I can take it!) :D
