I have a 2.3 GHz Dual Core PowerMac G5 with the following specs:

1.15 GHz Front Side Bus
1.5GB DDRII RAM
250GB SATA HD
160GB SATA HD
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 (256MB VRAM) (PCI-express)
16x SuperDrive
Dual Gigabit Ethernet
3x USB 2.0 Ports
2x FireWire 400 (1 back/1 front)
1x FireWire 800 (Back)
Optical/Analog Audio Line in/out ports

3 PCI-express expansion slots (doesn't include the one taken by the graphics card)

I've added a AirPort/Bluetooth card into it and its fully functional I use it everyday.

The 160 GB SATA HD is was also added in.

Everything works great on it. I'm just thinking about getting a new 24" iMac instead.

I also have a 20" Aluminum Apple Cinema Display (DVI) that I would be willing to bundle with it.

All items will ship in their original boxes with all of the packing material, booklets, and software.

There are no scratches or dents on either the display or PowerMac.

The SATA Cable for the bottom hard drive broke and I replaced it with a new cable. Both drives work great and have never given me an issue.

Both the display and PowerMac are under AppleCare warranty until 2009 and I would transfer the warranty over to you.

I would like to get at least $1500 for both the tower and display plus a shipping charge.

I would like to get around $350/$400 for the display if sold separately from the tower.

I would like to get at least $1200 for the tower itself if sold separately from the display.

The AppleCare warranties are separate from themselves. So if you bought just the display the warranty would still be covered. It was purchased separately from the PowerMac warranty because the display and tower weren't purchased at the same time.

The display is very bright and crisp. There are no dead pixels and everything works great.

The PowerMac G5 is the last generation made before it went to the MacPro. Its a dual core G5, not a dual CPU G5. There is only 1 CPU in the tower with 2 cores running at 2.3 GHz each.

Feel free to ask questions....

Thanks!

I briefly scanned the web for benchmark comparisons between a dual-core G5 and a newer Intel and didn't find too much. What has been your impression? We currently have a MacBook and I had an older XP Pro PC. That machine sounds like a real screamer, but with the C2D's out today and updated video ( iMacs ) how do you think this compares?

I really have not had any desire to go back to Windows, so dual boot does not really interest me at this point.

Also, can you post pics or email them to me? I can send PM with email if you don't want to post in forum. Thanks.

i will offer you 1000 shipped for it. it may seem like low balling but with the new imacs and the new macbook pro's it's getting hard for me to justify paying more then a 1000 for a g5. i think craigslist or ebay will get you alot more then here.

Well think about this, if you have a lot of PPC apps like Photoshop CS 2 then this would be a far better computer than any Intel Mac because those apps would run slower on an Intel Mac because they need to be emulated through Rosetta. Also, consider that this computer was $2499 w/o display and is just over a year old. So take the $2499+$599 and you have an expensive setup there. Yes, its used and yes it doesn't have an Intel CPU in it, but Intel isn't always the way to go for the reasons mentioned above.

i would agree. this would be a great deal for someone highly invested in ppc apps. but just for me, i would want it more for having the last gen g5. and i dont want to pay that much.. eh

and for 1500 with monitor is actually a awesome deal.

In a perfect world I'd like to have $1700 or $1800 for the tower and display which is still an awesome deal, considering just a little over a year ago this was over a $3,000 package. I bought my display when it was still $799.

I have a potential taker for the display, but I would like to see if someone wants just the tower first. $1300 for the tower anyone? Remember its all under AppleCare warranty until 2009. The display is also under AppleCare warranty until 2009 as well.
