So, out of sheer boredom, I was typing random addresses into the terminal using the whois command, and learned among other things that my college's domain name lease expires in may (wonder if it'd be worth snatching it up and offering it back to the school for free tuition?)...then when i tried google.com, i got this rather interesting listing:

[Jeffrey-Shrensels-Computer:~] jeffreys% whois google.com

Whois Server Version 1.3

Domain names in the .com and .net domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net
for detailed information.

GOOGLE.COM.SUCKS.FIND.CRACKZ.WITH.SEARCH.GULLI.COM
GOOGLE.COM.HAS.LESS.FREE.PORN.IN.ITS.SEARCH.ENGINE.THAN.SECZY.COM
GOOGLE.COM

To single out one record, look it up with "xxx", where xxx is one of the
of the records displayed above. If the records are the same, look them up
with "=xxx" to receive a full display for each record.

>>> Last update of whois database: Tue, 5 Aug 2003 18:10:59 EDT <<<

Did someone hack the database listing or something? its kind of funny

EDIT- Wow, try "whois microsoft.com" I can't post most of that one on this forum due to the vulgarity in it :o :p

When you whois a domain name it returns any domain with the domain name u specified in it, including sub domains. So your first result is actually nothing more than a sub domain of GULLI.COM.

If you use that in your terminal you get slightly different results.
