Have about $400 to blow, maybe a little more if I can find a really good deal. Just need a desktop for the office. A early PowerMac G5 would be perfect, I know some 1.6 machines go for $500 on eBay, so maybe a little less here.
An Intel Mini would also be ideal, I'd also consider iMac G5's.
Thanks very much.

a 1.66 ghz core duo mini is $429 on the Apple refurbs page, check early morning to catch one in stock.
i wouldn't waste money on a single 1.6 GHz G5 tower, honestly... but that's me.

That's with the combo....they bumped the price of the superdrive version to 649 cuz the original was 799... i think...well..last time i saw...
OP, watch out for those 1.8 G5 iMacs....they had lots Mobo problems...it might end up being a bigger headache for you.

Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely keep checking. In the mean time, if a forum member could beat that by a little bit, even better!

You might want to check out MacMall for some closeouts on the Mini. They had a new last revision 1.83 superdrive mini for $549 the other day. No tax and you might be able to talk them down to free shipping instead of getting the rebate, its a good deal.

Hm, found the refurb store in stock with 1.66 combo mini's for $429 and 1.83 superdrive mini's for 479. Not quite sure I want to spend that much, although obviously getting a 'new' computer has it's advantages.
What to do, what to do...

Refurbs from Apple are pretty much new anyway. Parts replaced on the inside and I _think_ they change all the casing every time.

Best bet is to get the 1.83 mini for that price if you don't mind getting the CD model

I have an iMac G5 1.8Ghz, 1Gb RAM, 80GB, Airport etc
I'd be willing to let it go for the right price.
