Eesh, that looks like two things:

1) A computer that was left out to rot on the beach and has been a favorite dumping spot for seagulls;

2) A piece of equipment that's supposed to blend in with the scenery at Disneyland's Matterhorn.

And lastly... I'd like to see him upgrade that thing! :D

It's just a good thing the foam isn't brown.....

Upgrading would be easy. Say you need to replace the videocard or add memory, take out a knife, cut out the foam around, remove the card, then respray the foam. Voila, better than new.

And when you drop it by mistake, its got padding, crash resistant.

All this wouldn't be reason enough for me to go make one myself. Thankfully they didn't start with a Mac.:D

If they dropped that thing they'd be doing it a favor. Hehehe.

Boy, have we come a long way in technology! "Break out the buzz saw, mom, I'm putting in more RAM!" :D

I dunno... kinda neat idea... and if you took the time to sculpt/model the foam I'm sure you could make some pretty cool looking "cases."

I don't think I've ever seen a PC that I consider of remarkable design. I
am actually surprised by this. The one possible exception is an aluminum cube that was a do-it-yourself posted on /. recently. I will see if I can find the link...

It can't be as bad as the one in this thread.

Can it?

i had the same thought about how to sculpt the foam to create more streamlined forms. Overall i give them high marks for inventiveness, and while i would rather show up at the sales meeting with a TiBook, they will definitely turn heads with that in tote.

As far as upgrading... see the thread on Mac Plusses.....;)

What type of computer was that?

That is some really poorly-designed model.

In fact, that PC model is more gross than some of the foods people have to eat in Fear Factor!

When I was in middle school we had to do that project where you have to design a package for an egg that will prevent the egg from breaking when dropped from twenty feet. I filled the inside of one of my mom's tupperwares with hot pink Silly String, molding it around the egg. When the Silly String dried, it was nice and foamy.

Reminds me quite a bit of that computer. :D

You could follow this guy around as he builds one then finnish by fading to black while he's talking about how it only took 3 hrs and $40.00 with the following closing statement:

"You could........but why?" (Fade in Apple Logo):D

Oh my dear good God...cringe doesn't even begin to describe it... those things look like they're straight out of 80's conceptual art.

*ahem*... we're trying to move FORWARD here, Intel...
