I'm starting to get into records and turntables (record players). I am looking to buy some vintage audio equipment (amp, preamp, turntable, etc...) and some records.
I have to admit that I'm not an expert in the field and I am doing some reading on the subject....so I am only interested in the larger brand named equipment and larger named artists. Please PM me if you have anything that has been sitting in the attic for a few years. :)
FYI: I have sold and bought off of MacRumors numerous times. Thanks.

I have lots of old records...not sure how great of condition they are in, or if my family is willing to part....I'll ask around tomorrow, and look into it.
I'll PM you when I get more details

I have had a couple of messages and a few people are intersted in selling some things. Is anyone else interested in financing an iphone or ipod touch purchase by selling off their old equipment and records?? I am still interested....;)

I'm really intersted in anything...I am not interested in buying top of the line eqipment for top of the line prices...I obviously really like the nice stuff but I don't think my budget can handle it right now. I will send you a PM and we can see what you have. Thanks though.

All depends on what you call top of the line--some tables go for up to $150,000.00, not including cartridge. ;) I've not heard that one, but I have heard a number of "expensive" tables, and it is my sad duty to inform you that some of them really do sound that good. . .
That said, PM me and I'll fill you in on a TT I'd be willing to sell.

Wow...$150,000 is a little more than I want to spend....;)
But I will send you a message and we can talk about it...

My advice, if you don't take yourself too seriously, is to go to Goodwill. You can get records for $1 or $2 apiece, often rare ones. They're often in good shape, if not great, and sometimes find a great deal. If you go into it with the same mentality that you would approach buying a scratch-off lottery ticket in a gas station, you'll at least have fun and, if nothing else, learn that people are extremely eager to get rid of their Neil Diamond collections.
Realistically, though, you're probably going to buy each record on a case by case basis, pay much more than $1 or $2 apiece, and get great sound out of it. What are your musical tastes like?
Also, check eBay. There's still a decent market for vinyl, even though I sagely left the scene some time back

Thanks for the input and after reading a little bit I have decided that I will be visiting my local Goodwill for records. I am mainly into the big names. I have some Bob Dylan, Greatful Dead, Steve Miller Band, Allman Bros, etc...
I just want a little bit of everything and I really want to start collecting some great jazz.
Anyway, the componets (preamp, amp, turntable, etc..) are pretty important to me and I would like to get a fairly nice set up. However, I really am open to anything because I don't mind buying some cheaper stuff and trying it out and then reselling it if I have to...
I really am starting to get a little obsessed with it and I have one or two people who are supposed to get back with me about some more details. So, I'm still interested and open to offers. Thanks.
