I have a 10.4 Drop In DVD and its backup copy for what it's worth.

I'm thinking $35 shipped. It should work just like a regular OS X retail DVD.

I'd like if someone could confirm that as well. I know it worked on a Power Mac G3 B&W that I had last year.

I'm not sure what this means. Could you please explain what you mean by "drop in" and "backup copy?"

THANKS!

I think what he means by drop in is that he got a computer during the time that Panther was shipping with new computers but Tiger was out so they gave him a retail disc dropped in the box. and the backup copy is most likely a burned copy for backup which is legal and he has to get rid of it when he nolonger owns the software.

The drop in DVD was slightly scratched so I made a copy of it. If I'm going to sell the original it'll come with its burned backup.

I've never had any problems with the original though.

I'm not sure what "Drop In" means.

Its what you would have gotten had you bought a G5 Dual 1.8 form Apple. When these towers were released Apple had already brought out Tiger, so many of those people buying computers at this time got the default Panther installer discs, and the dropped in Tiger installer discs.

Hence I have: G5 OS X installer discs, Panther installer discs, and Tiger installer discs. These all came in my Refurbed G5 Dual 1.8.

Hope that helps.

It does work, I just updated the machines in our office with the 10.4 Drop-In DVD; worked on the dual 1.8 G5s, the single 1.8s, the Digital Audio G4, and the B&W G3s.
No problems at all.

My offer still stands at $35 shipped for it. They'll be sent in a hard CD caddy.

My dad's work is shedding their PM g5s right now. He gave me a bag with 3 full software install and hardware diagnosis disks (manuals and even the apple stickers!) These are the gray machine specific disks. If you tell me what you have, I might have one that would be a perfect replacement for your original disks.

The PM disks I have are version 10.4.4, so it would be one of the later PM's. If anyone knows if these would work on his early version PM please tell me. But I don't think so.

Apple gave me a quote of $40 shipped for the original discs for this computer (Tiger, iLife and AHT). However, the line got disconnected as I was ordering from them. It took 45 minutes to get to that point, so I;m not sure if I feel like calling again.

So, if anyone has the discs for a PM G5 (Dual 1.8GHz) for $40 or less, please email me, PM me, or post your info here.
