Bah...... My car has just been stolen :(

Someone stole my car between 12:45 and 2:45 today :( :( :(

Filed the police report... etc. etc. etc.

I was so upset when I saw that it missing from where I parked it. But I eventually got over it. Then I realized all of my crap that I had in there:

2 Jackets
My swimming gear
My favorite Chess board in the whole world!
My garage door opener
My social security code written on several documents.
About 500 pennies, nickels, and dimes

Now I'm really upset :mad: :mad: :mad:
Sigh.....
I put work into that thing.


If anyone sees an old 1987 Station Wagon Nissan Stanza, in silver, with no hub caps (particularly in the LA area). Let me know :/

I once had my bike stolen from school... that was the worst feeling coming out of class and seeing my bike just gone. i can't imagine what it would be like to have your car stolen. :(

I've heard of people getting their stuff back but they are usualy chopped up miles away and empty..... i don't know how good your insurance is but once you accept any money from them you give up your right to that stuff even if they find it or atleast thats how most agreements work.

My parents have had two cars stolen in the past, and in both instances, they were found by the end of the week. The insurance money on them was enough to get a better model to replace them, too! I do hope it gets recovered, both for your car, and for your stuff. My mom never got the clarinet back she had in the car, it was the one she had since high school, but at least insurance was able to pay to get her a brand new top of the line clarinet that she now loves to death. I just hope you will have a similar "cloud has a silver lining" experience.

Our 2001 metallic Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from us, but we never got it back. Yes we had insurance, yes, it was alarmed and locked...

But a few months ago my father claimed he saw the stolen vehicle along the route to the Tapanzee bridge in NY. It was the same color, driving fast in the left lane. He said he recognized a few of the plate characters being the same as ours.

I doubt the insurance people did a damn thing about trying to find our 4x4. We had to buy a new replacement (but it wasn't metallic).


BTW: frescies, can you confirm that the car was locked at the time?

I know someone who's car was, in fact, recovered after having been stolen, but there was no luck involved.

The thieves abandoned the car because they had blown out the transmission, wrecked the interior and taken everything of value (and some valueless stuff as well).

The insurance company declared it totalled and, pursuant to her policy, paid her the Kelly Blue Book value -- a whopping $800. :( The car wasn't nice, but it ran.

Not only was it locked, but it was not in an inconspicuous location. It was parked amoungst other cars in a very open area!! I am somewhat shocked that someone would risk taking my car..... It wasn't that nice of a car... In fact, it was kind of crappy by modern standards. But was in perfect running order, and was clean :(.

3 months after I bought my 97 Ford Ranger, it was stolen at 6:30 am from the parking lot where I worked. It was recovered about 3 miles away near a disused Boeing facility.

Missing contents:
celphone (they made about $75 worth of calls in less than an hour)

$800 dollars worth of camping eqpt. It was a Friday and I was going camping after work.

It looked like they just drove it there and abandoned it, fortunately I had a few business cards in the glove box and Boeing security called and I was able to go pick it up. The police really didn't care at all. Tukwila is a high crime area near the Seattle Airport and cars disappear quite frequently.

The good part is that I was able to buy new camping stuff and the insurance company also paid to get the locks changed.

What an awful day that was! Hope you get yours back.

I'm really sorry to hear about your car. Last week, some asshole ran his SUV (or truck - it was a larger vehicle) into the rear fender of my poor Mustang convertible, which I haven't even finished paying off yet. :mad:

It was in a parking lot, while I was in a Kinko's for 10 minutes, and the jerk didn't even have the deceny to leave a note. Savages, I tell ya! I haven't even had time to get an estimate, but I'm sure it'll be expensive! And I never claim insurance, because then they just rape you for more money. :mad:

I knew someone who had their car broken into at DIA. The thief took their garage door opener and their vehicle registration. They got the address off the registration, opened up the garage with the opener and proceeded to clean the place out.

Just a word of warning.

then match another opener to it... too bad lapcop doesn't work as well with vehicles

That sucks man. Someone tried to steal our car last year by hotwiring it but luckily, a fuse or a circuit breaker broke somewhere and so the car got nowhere.

maybe he can setup a shotgun and haver mount it pointed at the door and then tie a string to the trigger and to the door that way anyone who tries to enter your car is shot.....only problem will be when your out of it and forget to unlatch the trigger line and well at the very least it will still be your car....

I've never had a vehicle stolen, but wished it had been once. My first car, an '86 Toyota Celica GTS, got broken into and all of the stereo gear I had in it was taken. They guys got not only got my equipment, but also my cell phone AND ripped apart the interior of the car. I'd rather had then take the whole damned thing then to have gotten it back like that.

It didn't feel like "my car" after that, and I didn't have a stereo for about 3-4 months until I got rid of it.

My parents had a car stole once. An 80-something suburban. They were doing christmas shopping at a really ghetto mall, and when they walked out with all of their stuff, the suburban was gone...

I guess insurance paid for it...

What really pisses me off, though, is when people vandalize your car. I had my car parked way out, with some other cars, in the parking lot of this mexican food place (which was almost empty at the time). I was with my boy scout troop collecting cans for a canned food drive, and some asshole at the mexican food place keyed my car... 2 deep scratches down each side of my car. If I wasn't a decent person, their cars would've been smoldering in the parking lot (I am a boy scout, you know...)

I've tried scratch remover, but the dang thing is too deep... Oh well, at least it makes the car look less appealing to crooks. It's a 98 ford escort, with a pimped out sound system (that's well hidden, except for the radio, which is kind obvious that it's not stock, but oh well...)

If anybody ever f*cks with my stuff, and I catch them, there will be hell to pay...

I also just spent a lot of time taking good components off of my bike, and putting the cheap ones back on so it doesn't get stolen at school... Oh well... It's too bad that we can't own good stuff without people out there who want to steal it. It makes communism seem a bit appealing, except for the fact that nobody would have good stuff...

I hope you get your car back, and I certainly hope that they don't steal your identity. That could really suck...

Oh man. I totally feel for you man. My IROC Camaro got stolen from the parking lot of where I worked and man was I PISSED!
I wanted to kill.
But it was for the best. The car was kind of a pain in the ass anyway. The car I drive now has been reliable as hell compared to it. And it just ain't worth stealing.
