NFL Team contact lenses

Ok, now this might be going a bit too far, sort of like face painting, but I sort of like the concept......

The problem with these speciality contact lenses is safety. Some of them are sold without the individual seeing a professional optometrist or ophthalmologist. Not seeking professional advice can result in serious damage to the eyes like a corneal abrasion or an infection. These lenses should only be sold by a professional!

I see no problem with them, as long as like Wdlove said, the individual buying them gets thoroughly checked out beforehand.

The colts one looks kinda cool, but then again they would just be blue ;)

Come on, you ever been to a game? There is so much gouging on beer and food alone, not to mention the tickets that $50 a pop for these lenses is trivial.

I wouldn't wear them (don't even wear glasses) but its an interesting idea. It would be better if there were a few more options than just sports teams.

I currently work for an optometrist, and there are many more types of lenses than just ones for football teams. There are contacts that make your eyes look crazy, called Wild Eyes. There are even patriotic ones with American flags on them. My favorite is the 8-ball contact lens.

You do need to get an eye exam though for contacts before you get them, or else you could risk damage to your eye if they are not proper lenses for you. I'd suggest getting them only if you already wear lenses, if not it is expensive just for the "wow" factor. Then, again, so is the Mac :)
