Hey could someone offer me a little help here? A friend of mine got a new iBook and is trying to get an all-in-one printer from Compaq (A3000 is model) to work. So far I have been unable to get a driver, they dont have one for Mac at their site. So does anyone have a way around this? All she really wants is the printer to work, it doesnt need to scan and all that, just print. Thanks for the help.

doesn't OS X have some generic/open-source drivers? It doesn't work with them?

According to these people, (http://www.computingreview.com/PRD_139628_1754crx.aspx#reviews) the A3000 isn't compatible with much. No Compaq printer is explicitly supported by GIMP-Print. It may emulate something else for which there is a GIMP-Print driver or even a standard MacOS X driver. However, that will require some research on your part.

Lexmark made it for Compaq. You might try using Lexmark drivers and see if any of them will work.
