Hi,
I have the latest iMac that shipped with a the Sony DE-U10A superdrive. I've read some comments stating that a mac firmware upgrade exists that adds DVD+R/+RW burning support. The only problem is that I can't find such on update that would run on a Mac. I'd appreciate if anyone could help me.
Thanks a bunch
Sebastian

There is always the possibility that I am wrong here, but the iMac comes with a DVD-R not +R and no firmware update would change that property. Different lasers.

According to this page (http://www.apple.com/imac/superdrive.html) the iMac superdrives only support dvd-r, not even dvd-rw. The lasers are different lenses, well, variations of the same lense and no firmware will change this from what i understand.

Well, Apple only supports DVD-R (even though DVD-RW works fine). The original Sony drive, however, supports DVD-R/-RW/+R/+RW, but Apple crippled the firmware.
