This great resource for web designers is getting some new features and functionality. Check it out - especially the new "fussy parsing" mode in the extended interface, which really puts your design to the test.

And for you web designers not already using the validator (or a derivative), shame on you. :p

Boy did it complain about the MacRumors home page! A thousand problems reported. Example: It complained that the spacer images didn't have ALT tags:<IMG SRC="http://www.macrumors.com/images/pix.gif" WIDTH="1" HEIGHT="1">and it misidentified the strings following ampersands within anchors (e.g., &theadid)
as invalid entities:<a href="http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36362&powermac-g5">I guess this isn't the type of page for which it was intended.

I found a page it actually liked: itself! No complaints at all.

I guess I've seen the two extremes: decidedly unhappy and deliriously happy.

It finds 67 "errors" on the Apple home page, including more mistaken complaints about entities. Sample complaint: missing name attribute in this option element:<option selected value="/find/#world">Choose...</option>

Did not see any difference with this validator on my site. The pages I checked are still perfect XHTML!

It found 12 errors on my homepage on my site, and I used Dreamweaver MX to put it together. I'm sort of learning HTML at the moment so this info is useful to me.

Ahhhhh. Yes. I was waiting for one of these for a long time, I have a lot of hand-coded HTML that strikes me as being rather buggy....I guess i'll see.:D

Edit: Hoo Hoo. 1 error in my latest website! Ha.

There is no way I can fix all of that, and much of their stuff is site wide....
