internal dvd-r bootable?

Hi, I am interested in buying a Lacie internal dvd burner(300678) for my B&W g4 400. It is cheaper than the external and would replace my slow/cranky (old) DVD Rom drive that came with the machine. I was told by a salesperson today that it might not allow me to boot from a disc if I were to switch out my old dvd rom drive. Anybody know definitively? Any advice in regards to this burner would be appreciated.

I had done some research there (at accelerate your mac) before I posted at Mac rumours and had found nothing that addressed the issue of boot disk compatability. Thanks anyway. :(
