I have for possible sale:
12" PowerBook G4 with a 1.5 GHz PowerPC G4 Processor, an 80 GB hard drive (74.41 GB formatted) with 1280 MB of RAM (1.256 GB) in good condition. Very little wear ... battery still holds a very good charge. I've used this a LOT and taken good care of it. Will include TWO cases for it - both made by Tom Bihn and the charger, etc.
There is nothing wrong with this computer, but in my old age (18) my eyes are starting to go and I think I want something with a slightly bigger screen. Instead of waiting for the ultra-portables that are supposedly going to come out at some point in the next year, I think I'm going to pick up a black MacBook... please make me a fair and reasonable offer.
This machine is covered under AppleCare until 03-Jun-2008, if that gives you any piece of mind.

Sorry just to clarify - that is a quote or an offer? thanks!

Oh sorry, lol. Since you had it as a Feeler, I was just trying to give you an idea of what that machine is going for here on Macrumors...probably 8-10% higher on eBay.

Assuming it's a quote, I'd tend to agree that it's about right. Particularly if you can show that it has no dents or scratches, and you find a buyer who wants the Tom Bihn cases (which are nice and quite expensive, but useless to someone who prefers another designer!), I think the high end of that ballpark -- $750, Paypal, shipped in the US, is not at all unreasonable.

Thanks for the info to both of you - I'm inclined to sit on it until we see new MacBooks ... do you think I'll take a big hit if I do so?

Possibly if we see some sort of Ultra portable MB (I doubt) but if it's a new smaller MBP (personally I think more likely) than still doubtful because it would be priced far higher than 700. Just look at how well 15 and 17" G4s have held their value even with the MBP.

I'd tend to think it's going to slowly, steadily lose value at this point, probably $75-100 a year until it hits about $400, and it will stay there for quite a while. I don't see it tanking in value. Maybe a slight additional hit related to the fact that it doesn't have Leopard, once Leopard drops.

If you really want to get the most you can for it, I would ebay it, and not sell it on here. You will obviously be hit with a few fees... but all in all, I have been tracking powerbooks lately, and it seems that they go for over 800 sometimes, atleast the 1.5ghz models, and since you have apple care for another 8 months or so, that's a big thing too. If it is in good condition, I wouldn't be surprised if you could pull upwards of 850 or so there.

I1280 MB of RAM (1.256 GB)
I don't know where this came about (I've seen it several times), but 1280 / 1024 = 1.25 GB, not 1.256 GB.

I think it's just decimal confusion a lot of the time -- 1GB + 256MB (which is how the two modules are set up) = 1.256. But you're certainly correct, 1.256 is just incorrect, 1.25GB is probably the best way to say it, and 1280 is fine also.

Also try Craigslist for sure. Much more traffic but no fees.
How are you these days, Sam? Haven't talked to you in a while...
