View Full Version : Selling education Leopard? (mod can lock/delete)

I am at college, and have access to Leopard for the super price of $69. I would assume that if I bought a number of copies, I could sell them for around $100 shipped and make some money.
Now, my question is, would this be illegal? I am sure there would be interest, just wondering on the legality.

you cannot resell academic copies.

Not ever?
Even when the next OS comes out?

not legally, no.

I'm not sure that they're really academic copies. The iWork I bought for $39 at my bookstore was a regular retail version.

So it would simply be unethical to sell them.

if you bought it at academic pricing then you own it under an academic license. the box is the same.

Agreed, people like you drive prices up for students like me who can't buy at $69 at my school. Thanks

PS: This is marketplace, don't use it to ask questions.

Okay, sorry, was going to turn it into a for sale thread if I got feedback that it was legal, but since I didn't and won't sell any copies, I guess a mod can lock or delete or whatever.

Did you honestly think there wasn't a legality issue here? Ebay would be absolutely flooded (moreso) if people resold education software en masse.

Take it easy. Apparently he didn't know. I guess people at colleges who download things illegally don't drive prices up either. And he's not the first person to ever post a question in a thread he started to sell something.
Don't be so quick to get on someone's case.

Sorry, i was refering to people who specifically use the education discount and then resell, therefore abusing the system... and leading to apple reducing the edu discount... and no the educational software limit of 2 per person is seldom enforced on college campuses.

I bid $1 for that education software, and demand free shipping.

Sorry I brought it up, I figured it was in the grey area, just wanted to be sure.

It's this type of thinking at made Apple raise the educational price in stores to $116. My school does not sell software so I have to buy it at nearly ful price. So thanks....

Don't be sorry, folks should get off their high horse. You asked a question and have an answer, the other comments we're unnecessary.

If you ask me, kudos to you for asking first.
