Because the touch panel overlay was on back order for so long, i sort of lost the enthusiasm to complete this tablet ibook project and canceled the order. Now I need to sell the ibook.
Specs:
500mhz G3 processor
320mb ram
40gb 5200rpm Seagate hard drive
Airport WIFI card installed!
See the ebay listing for a full description. This is your chance to build a 1 of a kind tablet mac.

If you want more bidders/watchers, upload way more photos than the single free one eBay gives you.
EDIT: apparently, they were blocked at work.

All that is needed is a touch panel overlay and this will be a fully functional tablet mac!
from the auction titled "iBook G3 12" 500mhz TABLET MAC project."

How hard is getting the touch screen to work? Fairly complex, I would assume, since you didn't finish that one step? I'm interested... but only if I can figure that part out! :)

If I remember correctly most of the touchscreens connect via USB. You could have a cable coming out of the screen to one of your usb ports or you could solder some wires internally to keep the sleek look. You still lose a USB port in either case.

correct. The touch panel overlay uses a usb controller. My plan was to solder it internally to one of the ports. Unfortunately www.ezscreen.com has terrible customer service and I finally gave up after over a month of waiting for my order. I just sorta lost interest in the project after that.
I still have my 12" powerbook... maybe in the future I will turn it in to a tablet.

I am very interested, but i want to know if this works thus far?
Like, i know it has no keyboard, and the screen is on the other side, but does it boot and run OSX 10.2/3 (i would assume) perfectly?
If it does boot, how would the software be modified to support the tablet? Like if i wanted to write something in MS Word, or make a post on this forum or email.. That has me confused..

A month waiting for the screen isn't too bad. Those guys at Axiotron have yet to put out the Modbook (http://www.axiotron.com), which was announced months ago!

It currently has 10.4 installed runs just fine. The "keyboard viewer" application can be used for text input. Once a touch screen is in place it will be as simple as typing on the screen.
I had been using a USB keyboard + mouse. and or connecting to it via VNC to test things.

It is when they neglect to tell you that it is on backorder and will not return emails unless you use foul language.
