Which beer is better and why? Bud or BudLight?

Neither :D

Bud = http://homepage.mac.com/soggybagel/.Pictures/barfsmiley.gif

If I absolutely have to drink a widely popular beer (Actually, most of the time, I prefer not the drink beer at all - give me peppermint schnappes and chocolate syrup), I'll have a duel in my stomach between Heiniken and Pabst Blue Ribbon, as a tribute to one of my favorite films, "Blue Velvet" :D

None: Tecate's or Corona's

Bub+ BUd light= nasty

or just a nice glass of red wine yummy

Neither, I'd rather use a dedicated toilet bowl cleanser when cleaning the toilet.

Plus if you forget to take the empties outside, there's that stale beer stench.

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, so I find the question significant and serious. Bud has more taste than Bud Light in my opinion. If I want to save calories these days, I drink Michelob Ultra.

Drinking Bud Light right now. Better because it's smoother, but I am comfortable with both. For real beer I buy Sam Smith (try the Winter Welcome).

I would have to agree most others on the board that neither of them are good.

My favorites are guiness, killians, red stripe, and kronenbourg 1664.

for anyone familair with Providence, Rhode Island there is a little bar here called The Wickeden Pub. Thier motto, which is emblazoned on anything and everything from bumper stickers to ladies panties is oddly appropriate here:

"Life's too short for sh***y beer."

for me personally, its guinness stout or nothing.

Budweiser is the beer of rednecks and high school kids who don't know any better.

In order, these are my favorites:

Dos Equis Special w/lime of course (my all time fav)

Corona w/lime

Shiner Bock (brewed just 2 hours from me in Shiner, TX)

Coors light (if I have to drink a cheap beer)

BTW...I had a keg of Dos Equis at my wedding....THAT was some serious beer drinking.

Ah...a topic of serious consideration when you're living at the home of AB's largest brewery.

That being said, Bud Light is most popular in St. Louis and is not a favorite of mine, but I do drink it when it's available. It's kind of like everybody's "back-up beer" in St. Louis.

My favorites that I'll drink when available:
(in no particular order)
Amber Bach (AB product)
Corona w/ Lime (You call Bud Light horse pee: try this w/o lime and it's really nasty)
Killians Red

Haha, I go to the University of Iowa...whatever you can get that is cheap and get you drunk is a beer worth buying. Budlight is one of the more popular ones at school. I'm not a big fan, but hey, after a few shots I don't really give a damn.

Neither. "Pisswater" comes to mind when I think of either of them.

I'd have to say Amber Bock is my favorite.

one thing with michelob ultra is that its bottle is smaller... so part of the "carbs" you are saving is due to the fact you are drinking less! :D

to the original post, i like budweiser among all other cheap beers (coors, miller...) and i think i prefer bud light over regular bud.

Bud lite is better than Bud, but they both still suck.

Better Beers:
(Not Import Versions of the following)
Kokane
Molson Canadian
Molson ICE
------------------
Rainier
Alaskan Amber
Keystone Light
Red Dog

Personally, Give me Vodka, Rum & Pepsi (Not Coke), or some Jack Daniels.

so said Ben Franklin.

Bud is for high school kids and hicks
Bud light is for their girl-friends

Best Beers:

Guiness (can't live without a Black & Tan)
Negro Modelo/Tecate (if you can find Tecate in the bottle, it aint worth it)
Pacifico for the cheap, Corona with enchildadas.

you made a pretty good point about the bud's, it was mildly funny and you had my respect until you mentioned the black and tan. that's a waste, IMO. guinness should be enjoyed on its own and so should bass. :D

I will admit that a slightly-warm Guiness poured straight into a large glass is very good stuff, but the Black and Tan is IMHO a great combination of bitter tastes that is the essence of a good beer.
And Bass is pretty good out of the bottle too.
BTW, the new Guiness bottles actually work pretty well.

Corona w/lime
Red Stripe
Dos Equis

There are some excellent tastes on this board.

Ahh yes! Shiner Bock, the official beer of the University of Texas Longhorn Band Trumpet Section. Much better than bud or bud light, but more expensive...

I see bud and bud light as beer for those who don't have enough money for something better who want to get drunk

although it takes more bud to affect me than Shiner Bock (besides the fact that shiner tastes better), which makes me wonder, why buy more cheap beer when you just need a few good beers?

I guess people here like bud and bud light at parties, because if you want to get drunk you have more, and if you don't want to get that drunk, you don't drink as much... But it's usually at parties where the people hosting are kinda cheap...

Oh, no they don't :D Your not drinking the right stuff. I've had only 2 hangovers in my life- a minor one on Budweiser  and a nasty, nasty one on sloe gin, cool aid, and a couple of 40 oz's of beer. :D It took me over a day to recover. :p

... well being underage but still lovign to drink you realize u can't complain and you have to just get whatever you can...

Most of the place around here either have kegs of natural light or high society or at the very worst old style. ...all very nasty beers. Or my favorite of them PBR. IN cans yo have the option of an icehouse...good for getting messed up...or a keystone light or sometimes a blight or a miller light but since were all underage we settle for what we can get. Occasionaly we get a bottle of skol vodka tho...that stuff is nasty.

I can totally relate. I lused ive in a one bar town (1500 people, but only one liquor license). It is a typical farm-depot town, and the agruement center around MGD vs. Micholob Ultra.

Okay, I don't mind drinking either. Of all the working man's beers that I drank, MGD is probably the one that most people can agree upon.

BTW don't let these wine snobs get you down :D

from experience, I have a lot more stories to tell living in this one bar town than I ever did in Washington D.C.

Echoing most of the statements thus far, both Bud and Bud Light are pi$$ and I wouldn't drink them except in the most desperate of situations.

Miller and Miller Lt. are just as bad; Miller High Life is the only cheap beer I can stomach.

Used to be a huge Labatt Blue fan, but ever since I discovered Bells Oberon and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, it tastes terrible to me. I also second the Fat Tire comments... great brew, too bad we don't have it here in the Midwest. But I've got one foot out the door to the Mountain West, so hopefully my fridge will be stocked with it before long! :)

I think both are cheap beer for people who want to get drunk. I don't drink beer any more as beer makes you fat (beer taxes your liver, makes you fat, and etc). Alcohol is a toxin for your body and your liver first tries to get rid of alcohol (which delays its other functions such as producing enzyme to break down fats and other foods).

The best tasting beer ever is Olde Foghorn Ale. When it's dollar bottle night, gotta go with the Guiness Extra Stout. Then every saturday is dollar Amber Bock. Amber Bock is decent, but its too mass produced. I agree about Fat Tire. That's some good stuff. Newcastle brown ale is good too.

Anyway. Drink good beer. Please. Throw out that Natty.

If I go to a bar, and they don't have Guinness, I will never go there again.

I have yet to find a beer other than Guinness that is even worth drinking, let alone enjoying.

I only drink Heineken, New Castle, or Woodchuck (if I am craving some Apple Cider)...however back in my college days I would drink about any beer--BUT seriously, Bud Light and Budweiser are totally disgusting! I went to a Jack Johnson concert a couple of weeks ago and the only beer that was served inside the park was MILLER LIGHT. I swear I got a hangover that night on my way home--that beer is truly the worst. The only light beer I will drink is Sam Adams or Amstel Light, they are ok. :)

The following are all cheapo crap beers (including their light version or ice version):

Bud, Miller, Busch, Keystone, Roling Rock, Michelob, Milwaukee's Best, Natural Light, Red Dog, Corona, Heineken, PBR, Stroh's, Labatt

These are all quantity beers, good for swilling in large amounts or drinking at parties when nothing else is around. If you're gonna go this route you might as well throw in Olde English 800 and Colt 45 too.

Better:

Killian's Irish Red, Sam Adams, Stella Artois, Guiness, Dos Equis Amber/Lager, Yeungling Lager/Amber, Sapporo

Best:

Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold, Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Stout, Murphy's Irish Stout, Rare Vos Belgian Ale

There's probably a bunch I forgot or haven't tried yet...but this was just off the top of my head.

Visit ratebeer.com to find out why beer is an art, and some makers can barely use a crayon. Of course folks have their own tastes and that's just fine. One Bud on a hot day is okay, but I'd never make a habit of it. Anchor Steam, Bass Ale... I prefer beers with a little more personality.

Nothing better than a REALLY good Porter. Of course my limit is a sad "one", but that said, two is my top-most limit. Anchor has a great "bite" to it. You know you're drinking it. BUT, it's more of a beer to have with a good sandwich than a beer to have alone. Stout and Porter, however, ARE a meal! :)
ratebeer was just a suggestion to folks who want to explore the almost endless world of beer... good and bad.
