How much research did you do before you purchased it?

Just bought a Macbook Saturday..I'm sure you can guess the rest!
So let me get this straight:
1) You go out and buy a new MacBook on Leopard day.
2) You open it up.
3) You read macrumors and you say they "got their clutches into me." so you...
4) Decide you're going to box up your "old" Macbook, now rendered totally obsolete by a small upgrade.
5) Get all pissed that Apple wants to charge you a restocking fee (which if you really read any mac rumor sites you should have KNOWN). So then you...
6) Go out an buy a domain name to express your mindless self-centered attitude and
7) Submit it to digg.com. (BTW I just buried you! Nelson says: Ha ha!)
What makes you so special that apple shouldn't charge you restocking fees? Do you think they can take your smudged up, week old MacBook and sell it for more now?
How much research did you do before you purchased it?
He obviously didn't read the MacRumors Buyers Guide (http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/).

Might as well start with this, since this thread is likely to either be skewered -- or full of people coming in to laugh.

Can't wait to see this guy banned.
I bought my 17" PowerBook just before the 17" MBP came out.
That was a HUGE increase too... 1.67GHz PPC to a dual-core 1.83GHz.
I didn't care.
Why?
I did some research like a smart consumer, and I realized that one day soon my computer wouldn't be top of the line. What do I care? For what I use it for, this thing is awesome.

I so wish I read the "crude comment" that WildCowboy removed... But I digress.
AngryMac; I think you should take a hint by the reaction you've seen, on both your post here as well as your own blog. Not one person agrees with you even when you plead them to see your rational if not agree with it.
I'm not going to make further arguments about specifically how large a waste of matter you are. I was convinced that you might have had some legitimate argument why you are entitled to something no one else is, but I can see that's not the case, and I will hitherto refrain from feeding the trolls.
By the way; Next time you're at your grocery store, bring in the used milk you bought last week. Say you want a full replacement (not prorated for what you drank) because the milk this week is a few days newer.

To be fair, it was kind of dickish of Apple to release new MacBooks so shortly after Leopard's release. The purpose was definitely to clear out old MacBooks.
You should have paid the restocking fee or kept the machine. I'm using the "obsolete" MacBook; it's fine.

That is hardly a horror story. They were willing to let you exchange machines as long as you pay the restocking fee. I do feel for you, it sticks when this happens. Ideally the updated MacBook would have been released simultaneously with Leopard, but that didn't happen.
Just pay the 100 bucks, it's well worth it considering the upgrade.

The part that I'm most annoyed about is when the OP talks about The holy one, Steve :p.
He says that "As an IT professional, I've learned that rule # 1 is to communicate to your customer that a change will go into effect.".
Well, since he bought an iPhone he must be familiar with Steve's statement "That's Technology". And that's true, think about it. It makes sense to release products without "prior" notice. It's not nice, but it's what happens in technology. Just get over it. You bought what you needed when it came out, be happy.

I bought my 2.0ghz core duo MBP a week before the core 2 duos were released was I upset because I didn't have the newest MBP no I wasn't because stuff like this changes in the blink of an eye I believe the great Steve said If you keep waiting on the newest stuff to come out you will never buy anything at all

Umm...yeah. Next time do your homework. Technology moves fast. I bought the last rev G5 tower knowing full well, (thanks to this site) that it would be trounced by the Mac Pro at some point. I don't have any regrets. It's a great machine and it more than serves it's purpose.
Next time, do a little research. All you had to do was look at the buyer's guide on this site.

It is very d**che baggy of Apple to update the hardware 5 days after Leopard release but this is hardly a horror story or is the OP entitled to anything.
Consider the restocking fee the price to pay to upgrade to new Macbooks.

You told one respondant on your site that you hoped he bought a new Mac, it "fried", and Apple charged him a restocking fee. I took the need to exagerate a sign that you were not confident in your original proposition.
Did you not know about the restocking fee when you bought? If you feel that fact was not made clear to you, you have a gripe. I don't see the point of your complaint otherwise, other than outright immaturity.
I'm an IT professional as well, and you are clearly confusing standard (and necessary) business practices in low volume, high value, high margin, business to business relationships with practices in high volume, low value, low margin business to consumer relationships. In other words, you are one mixed-up child.

totally disagree. i'm sure it's hard timing wise, but they offer a very generous..what is it.... $9.95 fee to get the new OS?
hardly douche at all imho.
to angrymacuser, you don't have to live on an site 24/7, but you only need to take about...oh.... 1 minute or so to visit a site and do research.
in today's internet driven purchasing society, any consumer who makes the mistake you did.....has only themselves to blame. if i read the posts correctly, you're an IT guy.
double shame on you then if that's the case.
you know better.
i know you're mad now...but in a few weeks, you'll realize we're right. count how many posts are like mine. i bet 99.99999% of them agree you made a mistake.
but, i would like to say, congratulations on your macbook. take the restocking fee as a punishment for a lesson that is well learned and likely not to happen again.
Cheers,

So you don't have to spend 24/7 on this site sharing the experience of hundreds of other computer users/ buyers.
But if your gonna plunk down a significant amount of money on a product that you use every day and want to get the best bang for your buck.
Some sort of homework seems prudent.

keebler, I'm going to name my first born after you. ;) Perfectly put!The thing that bugs me the most about this whole debacle is that the OP uses an image on his "blog" here:
http://web.mac.com/dan.sheffer/Angrymacuser/angrymachome/Entries/2007/11/1_my_letter_to_steve_files/shapeimage_1.jpg
From one of my favorite movies.
Yet equating this rather trivial disappointment with the outrageous, and righteous anger in of the news announcer in "Network" over an entire society gone horribly wrong is hyperbole to say the least.

I am far from an Apple fan. In fact I am doubtful that I will purchase an Apple notebook again because of my recent horror story. But come on. Sources everywhere were abuzz on Saturday. I feel bad that you didn't see that, but you call Apple deceptive. In order to deceive you they had to tell you something, and they didn't you just bought the computer. Get over it.
Speaking of deceptive, that title is a little, dontcha think?

I've been burned so many times by Apple and their smoking hot products.
How to get the latest tech:
Wait for a tech release (not software) and buy it that week.
Case & point, my 2.8GHz iMac, arrived August 2007.
Macbook releases:
May 2006
Nov 2006
May 2007
Nov 2007
Avg 6 months.
I think there's a pattern there...
But you didn't see that coming?
