To night, the ex-president Hugo Chavez Frias was released because of a negotiation for his resignation. He was put on a plane with an unknow destiny. Later on we found out the plane landed in a group of islands inside the Venezuelan territory. From there he started to re organize his groups.
All the tv chanels were taken, the notional guard did nothing.
The new provisional president elected yesterday has resing just minutes ago. We heard that on the radio minutes ago. The former president right now is the vice president who is well know as a friend of the colombian gerrilla and a criminal. He was the one with the knowlege to place the snipers.
I'm so afrraid, I may be moving to Puerto Rico this week. I have no money at all, I may carry my Pismo with me, that is all I can take because is my too.
We just heard on the radio that Hugo Chavez sent a fax telling he never gave his resignation.
All the journmalist of the oposition, tv channels and informants are terrify right now. Every body is running away.
This is the worst I have seen in my live. Because it is not a problem of my own, it is an entire country and is happening to everybody.
This is what happend when people dose not get educated.
I can not run away and leave my others behind.
I do not know.

I'm sorry to hear things have taken a turn for the worse. Chavez sounds like a horrible man. I hope your country can be rid of him--and soon.

I'm just waking up, thank you for your support, this is really another day. Last night I felt that we really where in the eye of the huracan, I had the images of "The Perfect Storm" movie in my head when I when to sleep.
Let see what is gonna happend now, nothing better for sure, I live in the "Plantet of the Apes" now, that is the feeling that describe it better.
The reason why everything fell down was because the new-ex-president, at the moment of his entrace disolved the parlament, that is not constitutional and that is a dictatorship, even he didn't mean that because he is a bussiness man, not a political one, and really he didn't have a good conselor because my brother is a lawyer and he told me that was wrong. He didn too many changes just the very next day and the military didn't like that.
So, do you remember that song that says "On the road again... " well, here we are.
Perfect Storm + Planet of the Aples + The Empire Strike Back = What every body is felling.
Remember I wrote several times "The history of Episode 2 is based on real events" well, when you go to see that movie all you have to do is place it in Venezuela and replace the robots for apes. That is just this man won the elections 3 years ago.
Viva la resistence!

This is a picture of my city taken this morning from my mothers bedroom. The view is from south to north, behind the mountains at the end we have the coast and 2 hours in plane you find Miami and 2 more you find New York.
We live in a hill in the south east side of the city, something like the upper east side in NY. At the right you can see the gettos, small houses made of aluminium and wood mostly. Most of the people that olive there are from Colombia (like the mexicans in Texas).
Close to the mountain there is down town Caracas, all the riots were located to the west of the picture, not in the places infront, this is the cililiced part of the city yet, the more to the west you gow the ****tiest become, but is just minutes away.

I just placed this video, sorry, I do not know how to make it bigger in the html table or donwloable.
http://www.fuerzasolidaria.com/video.html
Here is another video, it is very hard to look at.
http://www.fuerzasolidaria.com/video2.html
The tesis around is that this was a planify (most liklely improvise) auto-coup, everything was made to find out who the oposition was and put them in into jail.
Right now the gouverment say the snipers were people hire by the oposition to blame the gouverment. It have been like that for 3 years now, they do somethnig and blame the others and there is nothing we can do because the court is taken by the same political party of the president.

Whoa, that's totally nuts. Who were they shooting at?
Don't get caught out in the open.

Apr 14, 2002, 04:28 PM
They were shooting at us, people of the goverment, if you understand something in spanish the journalist say that just when the people was walikng on the street the shootings started.
In that same moment the president cut all tv channels transmisions, those images where taking because one camera man had the video tape recorder in the camera.
I have to remind you that the tape section of the betacam cameras can be removed to place the radio transmiter. In this case the guy had the casette tape on.
No one knew they were recording it, the images came later on tv.
Right now they are all free again, even the secretary of the political party that is the big guy at the end of the video.
The first guy with the overall was arrested yesterday and he said that "I hope I didn't hit any body".
Guys, love your country.

Poeple, if you know anybody in the press or tv please send them the links of this web site. Now the CNN is know here as the "Comunist News Network".
The thing here is very hot and drepressing, the atmosphere is worst than the sep. 11th. That was one event, this is a hopeless situation without near ending. Last friday I felt hope and happiness as the rest of the country, but it was just the eye of the tornado.
Please send this images to the media you know, we need the international comunity involve in this.

Hey mymemory -
Are you personally pro-Chavez or anti-Chavez? Do you think that the US government had anything to do with his attempted ouster? I am extremely interested in the political situation in Venezuela, but it is very difficult to get anything near unbiased news coverage here in the states. The leftist media seems to think Chavez is some kind of god, while the mainstream media portrays him as a cohort of terrorists. Perhaps this split is how things actually are in Venezuela - I understand that there is great division in the Venezuelan people's opinion of him. Is support of Chavez split along class lines, or is it more complicated than that? What does the situation look like from the inside?
Oh, to have the time and money to get a political science degree... :)

I find this amazing. Any particular reason why?
On CNN there was this little bit in the story about Chavez' return to power.
The leaders of Argentina, Mexico and Paraguay -- meeting in San Jose, Costa Rica -- said Saturday they would not recognize any new leaders in Venezuela until elections are held there.
A small glimmer of hope.
Good luck, mymemmory!

Very good and usefull link dukestreet, really thank you. The only mistake is that there was more than 600.000+ people in that manifestation. It took the entire highway of Caracas that is at list 2 times (really 3+) the lengh of Manhattan from Soho to Harlem.
Cleo, (deeep breath) I'm agaings Chavez.
1992 we had a president called Carlos Andrés Perez, by that time the economy was very bad (not even the shadow of what we have now). To make thst story short Hugo Chavez togather with some other people made a coup that fail. It faild because Hugo Chavez hide him self in to the military museum. But them, when the rest of the military generals scape to other countryes he surrender and when he was on video he said "This is over... for now". And every body was pretty happy becuase some one rised his voice against corruption.
During that time he was in jail and during that time too he got in touch with Fidel Castro's agents and was then when he started to fall deeply in to socialism with Castro as a tutor. If you read the other threads you can see how are the agreements about selling oil to Cuba.
Well, in 1998 we had elections, the president for that period Rafael Caldera reliesed Chavez and he create his political party. He got a very succesfull political campain and he won the elections.
After that his maneouvre was to attack private industry, church and tv media.
His problem was that he was surounded by very stupid people and his mouth was too big and the oposition grew more or less fast (there are stupid people on booth sides).
By the way, and the most inportant thing. 1995 Chavez became part of a group called "El Foro de Sao Paulo" and organization created by Fidel Castro and Lula Da Silva (former candidate for the elections in octuber in Brazil) togather with Las FARC and the FLM (Both Colombian Guerrilla).
Well, during all this years there ahve been proves the Chavez in financing the colombian guerrilla and at same time we have seen people of the colombian guerrilla around the Miraflores Palace.
So, that is the histry of Chavez who togather with some other criminals put togather an armed-civil group called the "Bolivarian Circle" at the beganing this circles was a group of people fromed by the poeple of the lowes economical resources to inform to the president the problems of their comunities, over rulling the mayors elected for the different areas of the cityes. This bolivarian circles are right now armed comunities that defent the interes of the president.
Now you are going to ask "and why no one stop them?" because the minitry of justice belongs to the president political party and the congres is 70% pocess by the same people. So, all what we have is the metropolitan police and some other mayor in the city, of course we are 80% of the population against Chavez, the thing is that the 20% are armed and they do not care about their live or any body elses life neither.
That strategy of the bolivarian circles are taken from the Cubans, they have group like those too under other names.
And the army is divided now because during all these years Chavez have did something else. He made an "emergency plan" to "help the population" and he started to give money away to the military. So the military now sale fish in popular markets, give haircuts, paint your house, but 90% of that resources stay with the corrupt generals, admirals and spread across the army population bank accounts. There are resports of that, even bill where $100.000 in tools where bough in one day to a store that sell fruits, or to businesses owned by the same military poeple. That is Venezuela now, that is the big picture.
1. Chavez is giving resources to Cuba and the colombian gerrilla.
2. He create the Bolivarian Circles now called "Circles of Death"
3. He is buying the military that is actually divided.
4. He has under his domain the Congres and the Justice.
5. He is destroying the private industry with the lows aprouved by the congress.
6. He is promuving hate between social clases (the is to make the poeple with resources to leave the country).
7. He is attacking the media and the journalist so no one trust them anymore.
8. Now he is shooting inconet civilians that manifest against his regiment that clearly is a dictatorship.
And by the way, he just bough a $85.000.000 plane because "he didn't have a presidential plane like the arabs have".
I guess you have most of the things here.
By the way the tall man at the end of the video (black pants and white shirt) is the secretary of the political party MVR.
And I guess one of them would be enought to remove him from the power.

Thanks very much for explaining the situation from the eyes of a Venezuelan. It must be terrifying to live in a "democratic" society and yet see power so abused. How soon will you have new elections? Does the opposition have a viable candidate?
Like everyone else here, I am praying for your safety as well as that of all of the people of your country. I hope that this crisis can be resolved peacefully and that no more innocent civilians are killed (that goes for the rest of the world, too...)

Thanx man, but now "the one that get first got it first", the US embassy is the closest to my house, do not think I'm the only one in planing to run away.
The best thing to do is what we are doing, stay in your house and get armed. The city is working half way now. I went downtonw this morning and there is so much tension around that if you shoot to the air the entire country colapse. No one can talk about anything else, in fack if you saw the video, I crosed under the bridge were the men of the political party where shooting.
I'm so strsseed out that my jaws hurt becuase of the way i'm pressing my teeth. The best way to describe is:
Do you remember the movie... I forgot the name, with Bruce Willis and this kid that could see the dead people, well, do you remember the scene when he was in his bed room inside the tent and he was scared because he knew something was outside... terrifying no? that is the way this entire city/country feels, there is a gost around us, some where.

Cleo, thanx again.
We do not have candidate. One of the points, because remember I didn't write everything, just a bit. Is that Chavez says he will be in power until 2021, even we have re-elections in 2 years.
He have been tricky about that, the other problem too is that the Electoral Chamber (I do not remember the name in English) is taking by his people too. A year after he won the elections the first time, he create a new constitution, with the new constitution (a very manipulated one) we fell in to elections again for some reason, at that time every body voted for the oposit candidate but he won by 80%, even more than first time.
I just got a mail from Puerto Rico (I have family there) and they told us that every single politician of left is supporting Chavez. What is very dangerous there is that they can copy the same "fomula" to create a similar state any where, specially in the United State because:
1. There is the people.
2. There is the money.
3. There are the brains to make it work better.
4. There are poeple in desagreement with the goverment inside and outside the US.
In this case what you have in favor is the sep 11th because that increased the patriotism big time, and that helps a lot. But the US have to be very carefull in not doing any mistake because the socialist groups are gonna use that, just as they are growing in Argentina after the crisis blaming the bankers of stilling the money and the international organizations of trick them. This is too big.
I'm gonna copy/paste this, check the grammar and release a book later one. Would be a good one in the US.
