Why is it taking so long to ship?

On Saturday the 14th I ordered a 40GB iPod. Its Tuesday and they are saying it will ship on or before 9/18/03. Why does it take so long to put an iPod in a box and put on a shipping label?

I would have bought it locally, but they wouldn't have given me my Company Discount. Really, how hard is it to ship an iPod?

Popularity - they can't make them fast enough. The iPods being assembled now were purchased weeks ago, concurrently, yours is still in it's component parts, farther back on the schedule.
