It is what we call the powerbook g4 since it has a titanium shell. Hence the tibook:)

I think its amazing to be on an apple board and not know what a Ti is.

I would be curious as to the chain of event that lead you to this board without knowing what that is.

I am not trying to flame but am merely interested.

how can you get in front of the steering wheel if you didnt open the door to the car.

In through the trunk?

If you don't know the atomic abreviation for Titanium, its not exactly obvious to everyone. I've seen a lot of 'nicknames' that took me a post or two to figure out.

Some I can remember off the top of my head.

mobo - motherboard
QAg - QuickSilver

And I know there have been plenty more. Someone should post a lexicon.

I think I wasn't paying attention to something. Don't call me stupid, but could somebody tell me what a TiBook is???

its a PowerBook.

But see most people just dont like to type all that out, so they just call it TiBook for short (Ti is the chemical symbol for titanium and thats what the powerbook is made of). And it just sounds cool :)

Biggles is correct there. I wanted to say one thing.

Biggles- I love your signature. You know I am Mac_User, right? I remember that post, exactly. Someone said something about a formula on updates, and I got mad! I posted that, and when I looked it over, I was right!

A lexicon would be great, we would call it a lex

That is some whacked math. You could do that kind of math with anything you could think of. Funny, though.

And it just sounds cool :) TiBook sounds a bit like iBook, another of Apple's potable machines, so it kind of has the whole double meaning thing happening, too.

Some people call the current iteration of the iBooks "IceBooks", because of their color, and, again, the name kind of has the double meaning thing going on.

It's a crazy crazy world of crazy crazy double meaning type things.

Right. Let's be ignorant and scare away all those, that aren't yet familiar with our type of lingo. It's really stupid to not just go forward and simply explain the term, if this guy doesn't know it's meaning.

Apple is trying to win over users from Windoze. So, if someone is coming along, asking a simple question we should really go ahead and just answer it. Irony is out of place.

TiPB - titanium PowerBook, that's how I've been abreviating it for a while now. Anyone got any others?

You beat me to the punch.... I have been using TiBook for the same reason, just shortened the words to get the condensed version. It also rolls off the tounge easier then saying Titanium PowerBook G4.... TiBook... short and sweet.

I might have to name my first child Ti... heh heh heh

Ok, the smart allek in me (devil on my left shoulder) is making me post this, so take it with a great salt lake:

If TiBook stands for the Titanium Power book, what does sh** mean? Is that some sort of windo$e software or intel chip?

That makes calling someone a S.H.I.T.head a compliments... that could be slang for lead, or head, S.H.I.T. :D
