Sale Resumed 12/4

This laptop is by far my favorite I've ever owned, but sadly it needs to go.

Specs:

1.5GHz PowerPC G4
1.25GB RAM
80GB HD
Superdrive
Airport/Bluetooth
(Yes, the USB ports are 2.0)

Problem: The screen only works on the top 1/3. Therefore, you will need to buy a new screen. This should be around $200 to fix. The case has a few dents on the screen area as well, most likely just from transporting it in my laptop case everywhere.

I'm asking $450 shipped... (Reduced 12/8)

PICTURES OF THE SCREEN IN LAST POST, BELOW!

I have brought it to the on-campus repair center and they are doing a diagnosis, and they think it is only a loose cable. If it is just a loose cable, I will be fine with that. Otherwise, screen replacement runs around $200, which I can live with as well, since I would probably be paying $200 for a Pismo anyway. As a result, I decided to change the status to feeler. Little did I know you can change thread titles around here now, too... very nice.

Turns out that the screen needs replacement and it would cost $200 or a little less to fix, so I am just going to sell it for $475 OBO still, since with a new screen the value is still pretty far up there.

As you can see, the screen isn't too useable, except for the uppermost part. Attached to a VGA screen the screen works fine, so its not a graphics card issue (thank goodness).

Not a bad deal, it would make a good headless Mac (if you wouldn't bother to get the screen replaced) but I assume you'd rather want a full laptop. Too bad Apple doesn't offer a small laptop like these anymore. :p

Just curious, is the mini-DVI to VGA adapter included? Thanks :)

Yeah, I was actually thinking about a headless project, but thats sort of cost prohibitive, since I would much prefer the money instead.

No DVI-VGA adapter is included, sorry :( The one that I used was borrowed from my roommate who would be slightly angered to find out I sold it with my laptop :p

I am very interested in this, but I have no experience with changing screens.
is it hard?
could a novice be able to do it properly or is there somewhere I can have it done, geniusbar?

$450 shipped to 22043?

I'm not quite a novice, but I've taken apart a Clamshell and a Wallstreet before. If you have time and patience, you can do it. Just be sure to keep track of the parts! Here is a guide (http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac/PowerBook-G4-Al-12-Inch/Display/53/21/http://) for display disassembly. Communicating via PM to work out details

I've done many screen replacements, and the only pieces of advice I have are to be gentle and to keep track of screws. Screen cases are very finicky with closing tightly with missing screws. If you're going to replace the LCD, you might as well replace the topcase while you're at it.

After PM discussions, seems like that is something the OIP isn't interested in at this time. I'm reducing the price by $25, as well. I will indeed ship to Canada and Europe as well.

im_to_hyper,

Did you ship the PowerBook and why don't you respond to my emails ? I'd like an update ASAP please.

I've replied to your e-mails twice: both times mentioning it was shipped out on the 11th via airmail... second message said it takes time to ship to Canada as well, they probably will do a customs inspection or something.

The Pismo drive was sent out the same day and he just got it today, and that is in the US
