I hate it when people download a bunch of warez and then list the inclusion of this illegal software on the hard drive as though it is a feature.

1. If you want to be a pirate its easy - no thought involved at all. Any monkey can download warez. This has no value at all. Zero.

2. People work hard to make software so that we don't have to make our own. They deserve to be paid for it. This is especially true of developers that are crazy enough to support a niche that is 5% of the market.

3. You are misleading people when you say that software is included but do not provide the install disks and license.

I think the marketplace forum needs t be patrolled more by a mod - there are a lot of machines with 'over a $1000 worth of software installed on the hard drive.' If you know what I mean.

Seriously people - if you don't want to end up ike wierd old Amiga users worshipping a dead platform, buy your software.

i know what oyu mean, its the same way with music... Not everyone is stealing the programs initially but not giving the CDS with the machine when they updgrade to a new machine and then installing the programs on the new comp....

do you feel better now that you got that out of your system? What brought that on and why do you care?

People selling computers list all the software they are 'selling you.' Why bother if it isn't legit?

I agree; warez should not be used as a selling point for a computer. Most end users do not want to deal with the hassle of maintaining/upgrading illegally obtained software, nor do most desire the legal consequences of possessing it. On the other hand (excluding legal/moral consequences), I do not think there is a problem with leaving said software on the computers hard drive if, after the computer is purchased, the buyer is contacted and ASKED if they would like said illegal software to remain on the computer, fully acknowledging that said software does not have proper licenses, etc.

But for the main point, it is irritating to see listings for computers that "include" Photoshop, DVDSP, etc only to discover that these are merely "installed" on the computer, and therefore illegal distributions (regardless of whether or not the seller actually posesses the CD or merely downloaded it, if the software is not sold whole, it is illegal). Just my 2 cents though...

I don't necessarly mind having the software left on the computer. It really makes me irate when the seller thinks by having that software on there just increased the value of their machine by 2 fold. Their have been alot of that happening in here lately.

i agree, actually... tho i've used a few programs illegally before, it's always stuff that i wouldn't pay for anyway, and that don't provide me with better productivity, etc. otherwise i pay. but seriously, it IS a problem when people load up computers with warez and unload it onto someone who expects REAL licenses (so they can get REAL support and be on an upgrade path). Anything like this is blatant fraud, trying to dupe the customer.

Ask yourselves this: would you want, say, your non-technically-inclined parent to go buy a laptop on eBay, bundled with software, to be informed that the software is illegal (and that they may face legal action) when they call the software's 1-800 number?
