Unless we started hearing that other retailers were unable to order any more at this time, I think Amazon is just temporarily out of the current model.

This (potential) situation makes me think back to September when retailers short-stocking iPods because the new ones were coming. But, as much as I hope it's the case here, I won't believe it until I see it.

If you click on 5 used & new available from $2,165.00, it takes you to a page indicating that it can be purchased from 4 mechants new (one of which is amazon) and 1 used - for a total of 5. This would mean that each vendor only has one if there were only 5 available. I don't think this is a valid assumption.

The Mac Pro is a professional computer. What professional is going to buy their computer from Amazon? Or Best Buy? Or CompUSA, even?
1) You can't customize them.
2) They're the same price everywhere.
3) The Best Buy site still says "Shipping with Tiger and iLife '06."

I bet they've had those same 5 computers since they were released last year. Patience is a virtue, people.
