i wonder how many people sleep a full 8 hours?

i sleep about 9 and my wife sleeps 10, so last year we got practical and got a good bed since we spent more than a third of our lives there:p

i know of a couple, and they are relatively young in their 20s, and they sleep 12 hours a day, or more! but they don't have to work since they inherited a lot of money

the strangest case i know of is this brilliant engineer who could have been a doctor, but he chose not to because he wouldn't be able to sleep long hours...he used to sleep in until noon and shower just once a month and he never seemed to do his homework in college...but he did still get his master's degree

so achievement isn't related to staying up long hours...einstein slept 16 hours a day sometimes:D

I probably get 7 on a normal night. I feel rested after 7 at least... :) Last night I got 9, but I worked 12 hours Thursday and my normal 9 on Friday, so i was bushed.

I tend to get 5-6...usually on the lower end...

I don't require much sleep usually...and I'd rather not if I didn't have to...

3 to 8 on weekdays, higher end if I am lucky. God, it sucks to be an insomniac.

I do get like 10 on weekends though because for some reason, I can sleep in the morning (i mean, afternoon. :D)

I get between 3-6 hours on average. I'm a pretty bad insomniac most of the time. My mom said when I was a baby I never slept and the only way they could get me to even try sleeping was when they got me a waterbed. That helped me sleep a few hours a night, but it seems like I never grew out of the habit of not being able to sleep after all these years. It's nice for getting work done, but it sucks when you have two college roommates sleeping when you are sitting up wide awake trying not to wake them up.

I used to get 8 hours a long time ago.

But nowadays, between having my own company, doing more and more freelance photography, having a girlfriend, and a band... there's just not time for it.

For example, this week, we mixed a demo for the band. On Sunday, I woke at 8, went and did some photography, worked on some concepts for our band site and was at our practice space fro 4pm until 2am.

Monday, woke up at 7, worked all day, went to our keyboardists and mixed the first song until about 3:30am, woke up at 5 AM on tues to drive my dad to the hospital for surgery, went to a meeting at a client's facilities, worked until 5, went to a cafe, worked until 11pm and then mixed more from 12-5am.

And it seems like the days don't get any better. We recorded weds, squeezed in some time withthe girl on thurs, and mixed until 6am friday morning!

That and my new obsession with sunrise photos... and my sleep time is drastically reduced. Thank god for Red Bull. ;)

I generally don't sleep through the night... normally I wake relatively frequently so I never get that good quality deep sleep stuff.

I also have a habit of sleep walking. When I was in New York I was staying in a hotel where my room was high in the sky.

Because we didn't get into Manhatten until 1am after the flight my mind was still firing on all cylinders, about halfway through the night I awoke, well awake in the sleep walk way ;) and must of presumed I was trapped, (I put it down to unfamiliarity with my surroundings in a semi-sleep state) because the next thing I was trying to climb out of the window about 20 stories up... my friend woke me up trying to climb out... I think it freaked her big time because I didn't warn I did these kind of things!!

I'm vaguely aware of what I'm doing when this happens but reality is really mixed with hyper-reality so my surroundings and situation is the same as my dream but juxtaposed with reality... it's a very weird feeling!!

So yeah, one of my habits is climbing out of windows when I'm a sleep basically....  :p

I get between 8 - 9 hours each night, I'm also one of those that needs my sleep. My problem is that my wife likes to watch "David Letterman." So I can't get to sleep as early as I would like. Sometime I can fall asleep while he's on.

I get about 5 on weekdays and about 14 on the weekends.

I have been known to go about 36 hours and only need an hour of sleep, but I rather enjoy sleep so I usually don't do that unless I need to.

I sleep between 7.5 and 8 hours a night. I get up at the same time every morning, weekday or weekend (6 am). Getting up at the same time every morning allows me to fall asleep and without it, I would have a hard time falling asleep.

The bad side of this is at 10 pm, I feel dead tired. If we are doing something that requires staying up latter than 10 pm, I have to practice staying up for a few nights.

The good side is I have an hour every morning to myself (wife and kids get up later).

I used to pull all nighters, longest I have stayed up once was 40 hours straight. All night coding, followed by school, then work, then by that time I ate dinner watched TV and then went to sleep around 8pm....

Since then I have pulled several nights with only 2, 3 hours of sleep, but as I near my late 20's I get too worn out if I don't get a min of 6 hours of sleep. I know I am kind of stuck on getting older, but I am amazed at how much my body has slowed down in the last 10 years.... Maybe kids is hastening the onset of becoming an old fart. :D

When the boogie-man doesn't crawl out from under my bed and wake me up, I can sleep around 9 hours. Otherwise, I get around 6-7 hours on a weekday. I have sleep trouble, so this will vary. Last night, I got 4.5 hours, I believe.

:D Viagra is my favorite word to add to content blocking lists. :D

I think I feel so run down from the sleep depravation and the lack of taking days off.

weekdays 2 to 6 hours
weekends 7-10 hours
post all-niter 10-14 hours

i average around 6 on days when i get to bed on time, but i usually only grab 2 or 3 hours a nite at least twice a week. my problem is ill take a nap and it messes up my sleep cycle. get to bed at 5 AM + 8 AM class = 2 hours of sleep :(

14 hours?!

people would think I was dead if that happened...

it's bad enough when I sleep 10 hours...which happens about once a month...that's enough sleep for 2 days...

usually sleep 4-6 hours in a night. have gone up to 49 hours without sleep after getting only like 3 hours of sleep before that. not fun at all, but well worth it.

no average for me. sometimes 15 hours in one WEEK, sometimes in a DAY.

this week .. 3 complete insomniac nights. rest counting 3-8. average in the past months has been 8-11 of good sleep, that keeps my body less painful.
