i used to look ten years younger than my age most of the time
...that is until i turned 35, and then wham-o, instant middle age...loose skin, frumpiness, and the hardest time with calories...i can say now i look my age and i don't get carded anymore:p

I'm 25 but popular opinion seems to put me in the 28-29 bracket...
The worst guess I've had was early 30's....
The best is being asked for ID (first and only time) in Safeway in some small town in Oregon in 2000 when I was buying some Newcastle Brown Ale.... ;) :D
I was an early developer though, at 12 I was over 6 foot, and have had perma-side boards since 13 :D
I like to think I'm growing into myself, I always looked older than all my friends, but they're catching me up fast and in some respects overtaking me in the not looking as young stakes!! heh-heh!!
I can't wait to hit 30 per se. :D

About a year ago I amused myself by asking my clients how old they thought I was. General consensus was 35. I was 26 at the time, but I act like I am 35... :D

I'm at the cusp of turning 26...and I have no idea...
when I shave...people think I'm younger than 25...
but when I don't...I don't get carded...
so I don't know... ;)

I'm fourteen, but due to my beard, I'm frequently mistaken for a college student.
I've been served beer without being carded (I ordered Root Beer, but they misheard me).

Everyone says I look really young. I'm 20 and I am mistaken many times for a high schooler because they say my face looks young. It sucks because I get carded all the time when we go to the movies and stuff when the rest of my friends who are younger than I am don't. I'm a junior in college, how the heck do they think I'm some 16 year old? I'm sure in another 20 years I will wish I could look so young. But then again, my mom is approaching her 50s and she still gets carded whenever she orders wine or something.

I'm 26 at the moment. Some years ago, when I was 22 or 23, I was still asked if I'm already 18, so I could pay less as I didn't count as an adult...
But these times are over now. I still think I don't look like 26, but neither like 18.

im 17 but most of the time i can look a whole lot older. when i go to conventions of business meetings they always aske me what college i go to. im like umm, im in high school. but i think they may ask me that because of my knowledge. but i grow facial hair really fast and can get a nice full think beard. and since im lazy and hate shaving every day i just let it grow out. when i go to chili's they give me the drink specials for the night.

Bartenders/waiters do that for tips. My cousin worked in bar when he was in school (Canada - drinking age 19), he always told me that the best way to get good tips is from carding middle aged women - "highest complement" or something like that.

Not from my mom he wont, my parents are pretty cheap when it comes to just about anything. That's the only reason why we have a Dell as the family computer instead of the iMac...he was going to buy it until he saw the price was twice that of a Dell P4 with 17" LCD.

Ya, but the bartenders don't know that, it's always a gamble. As far as the Dell thing, well can't really argue if price is an issue, and your ignorant to the facts, and you look spec for spec, a Dell might look a lot more appealing. I've given up on my "crusade" to get people to buy macs, i just can't be bothered, i don't know how it is in the states, but here where i live not to many stores cater to mac users, so a lot of people argue that they don't want to go out of there way to find things that compatible. i've heard this point made so many times that i'm starting to think that should be Wintels moto;
"buy our product, it's everywhere"
which just makes me thing that mac users are the elite. We respect our product and trust our machines, and we respect those who use them. Probably the reason why there are very few viruses made for our systems
i know, I kinda went off topic in my post, by i know my "rantings" won't fall i deaf ears.
thanks guys

I look a LOT older than I am. When I was seventeen, somebody thought I was thirty. Normal guesses at that time put me around 21 or so, though.
One time I was at a youth event when I was sixteen and a couple of girls thought I was the youth pastor. They both thought I was twenty-five.

I was tall and mistaken by a few years older when I was kid. Till like 10-12 years, I wasn't fast to develop then ...
Now 28, most guess 23-25. And I mistake people a lot younger being of my age as they look like .. well for me.
Being skinny helps i thik. I am still often asked for papers when I buy alcohols or go to a pub.

Most people place me 3-10 years older then I actually am. Facial hair and dressing nicely can add a lot to your percieved age as can a mature attitude.
I don't shave too often so I always have a light goatee, I have long hair tied back in a pony tail and I usually am wearing khaki slacks or shorts with a button-up Hawaian shirt. No one can tell tell my age very well.

I'm pretty 'my-age' lookin'
but there are a TON of people at my high school who look like they should still be in 1-4th grade . The first day of school I thought there was a 3rd grade field trip at my High School, but it turns out they are freshmen. But they are balanced out by those freakishly tall kids who are like 7"22 (yes, I know that is impossible. In more ways than 1).
I'm very happy to be average ;).

Thank you eyelikeart, guess that's why I get noticed on two fronts! :p A negative to being tall is clothes and not fitting into cars. The funny aspect is, "the taller you are the harder you fall."

facial hair was not an issue, i have very light facial hair right now, which i keep cleanly shaven and always have
when i was in highschool a lot of people always asked what i was majoring, i never had trouple ordering drinks in restaurants
i agree with the guys that say thats it's how you dress, if i'm wairing a fitted shirt with dress pants, and i appear well groomed, i've had people overshoot my age by atleast 4 years, i've heard people say that when you compare my prom picture with my date, and my parents wedding picture my dad an i look pretty close to the same age, exept that i'm 17 in my picture and my dad is 28 in his.
i also have to say it's a matter of how you act, i wouldn't call it maturity, more i think it is confidence, if you can sell yourself it doesn't matter how old you are, people will look beyond your age

Heh same with the freshman at my school! I swear to god they are dwarf-size...it's crazy!

Well at 20, I get commonly mistaken for 25-30. Heck at 16, many people thought I was 21. I have a feeling its my behavior and mannerisms that cause it, and is probally why I can't find some one my own age.

I guess I look about my age of 19, but I've passed for 21 at the age of 18. There's a senior aged 22 that lives upstairs in my house though (We call him Bumblebee Jim Bot-G...DEFINITELY Don't ask) that looks like he might be 16 or 17. I mistook him for a freshman when I was moving in.

But this one time when I went to pick up my sister from her high school, some girl asked me if i was "looking for my daughter." I then asked her how old she thought I was and she said 45 or so. So I dunno... My pic is on the "Macrumors pics" thread if u wanna know what i look like. Actually, look and tell me how old i look. Then if you REALLY wanna know my age, i'll tell ya.

I am 27 and most people think I am 18 and in high school still. I tell people I am 27 at the church softball games and they ask me to show them my driver's license....and this is at a church league game! I never have asked for alcohol or cigarettes so I never have been carded. When I don't shave people start to see me as maybe 21 or 22. My wife insists I shave though......she says she can't stand facial hair and will not make love to me with facial hair. She says facial hair is dirty and icky. Oh well that is her opinion and I do have to listen to her! You know first impressions mean everything about getting a job.....this might be the root of all my job problems.....I think people judge me as too young and belonging in McDonalds and McDonalds judges my resume and says this guy is old.....you get the point! I am frustrated with the job market and job searching!

when you are 19 but look older, then you won't get carded as much...but you don't want to look your age or older when you are 40 ;)
your sister being 26 and looking like a teen is a good trait if you are a supermodel who wants a few more years in her career...but not so good if you want people, in this still sexist society, to treat you with respect worthy of a doctorate

Me too! I'm 25 and these things have happened to me in the past year:
1) was buying matches at a supermarket, the girl at the checkout asked me whether i was 16
2) was getting medicine at a pharmacy with a prescription (you get it free if you are under 18) and they presumed i got it free
3) was ID'd at a wetherspoons (pub/cafe type english place) for a COFFEE, after my friends who were 19-20 years had all bought alcohol (drinking age is 18+ in the UK) and not been ID'd at all!!
now i get really narky with people who presume i'm young, i just find it offensive. i normally put on my most adult voice and say "pardon me?" they soon realise they have made an embarrassing mistake and don't say any more. i hang about with people who are generally younger than me at the moment, and all the time i have to say 'no i'm not a student' - i graduated 4 years ago!
Now i'm thinking that my young-look (i think its a mixture of a young face, small shoulders and short height) might have put me back in trying to get a job, as i need to be taken seriously in adult roles!

I just hate not being taken seriously in the "adult world". It gets me a bit angry to be honest. I hate it when people (and almost everybody does do this and it really grates on me) ask me if I am student or ask me where I am going to school at or what grade I am. I have to sigh and say, "look, I am 27 and have been out of school since 1997 folks." I am not a kid anymore ok. What really makes me mad, mad is people, especially teenagers on the b-ball court asking me what grade I am in and then when I tell them I am 27....they don't believe me and insist on a drivers license....in fact some don't even believe I have one.....and when I show them I was born in 1976....they all go Woh!.....you really are that old! Irritating, very irritating! I just want to say DUH!
