Geekfest London...

Okay, well maybe not Geekfest.. heh-heh-heh :p

But this Saturday (27th) at 2pm my goodself, britboy and WinterMute (95% on) are meeting in the bar with no name on Endell St (Covent Garden/WC2) to converse over some fine drinks.

Below is a map showing the location of this bar (big pink circle)

It's close enough to Covent Garden tube (the green circle on the map) (5 mins), Tottenham Court Road (5 mins) and Leicester Square (7mins) to make it within easy reach for people.

The bar itself, doesn't actually have a name on the outside... although there are small signs which say 'cafe/bar', but it's cool and mellow, shouldn't be too busy (a good thing when meeting people and you have no real idea what they look like that is! heh!) isn't too expensive and is good for talking in because it doesn't have really loud music...

So anyway... if you're in London this Saturday, and find yourself at 2pm with nothing to do, pop along... it'd be good to put faces to names and I'm of the opinion the more the merrier!!

To get there from Cambridge Circus, if you walk up Shaftesbury Avenue (Pizza Hut and O' Neil's side) towards Holborn, follow Shaftesbury Ave all the way around (You'll go past Neale St on your right) and follow the road around to the right.... where you'll be presented with a big junction... the bar with no name will be facing you on Endell Street, it occupies the whole corner... you really can't miss it!!

Wintermute will probably be recognisable by the iPod he carries round with him. It's how I knew him when we met up a couple of weeks ago! I'm deffinitely going to be there. I have a meeting which doesn't finish until 1pm, so I should be there round about on time. It will be nice to meet more people from MR. As you say, the more the merrier.

That's cool. I had started wondering where you might post those pictures.

Just to put the quote in place, the meeting was last weekend. If you still want to go to the bar, then you are more than welcome, but I doubt there will be many others from macrumors. :p

We have agreed to meet up again though, probably in a couple of months time (no dates were discussed, just a general agreement that we should do it again). I'm sure another thread will be posted as and when that happens. Perhaps next time there'll be more than just the 4 of us who turned up last saturday.

Wintermute, if you arranged the tickets when it was first announced, then you should be fine, they don't send them out until the week before.... actually I think it might be different this time.... you might just need to sign yourself in when you get to Angel!!

Weekend meets are fine for me, although I can't do the this weekend or the next.... weekdays are more difficult... purely because I work late, and then have to find somewhere to sleep for the night.... :rolleyes:

I suggest maybe the weekend of the 25th to meet up at the Bar With No Name... ?? and then MacExpo is almost exactly one month later....

What do people think??

Would be cool if others could make it... we're quite blessed that in London we've got quite a few people who are local... I think we could make 10 easily.... :p and possibly more.... I'm hoping people aren't put off by the whole 'Geekfest' term... I had a ball... and Apple were only rarely mentioned.... although language did become more colourful when MS were mentioned!! heh-heh!!
