Hello everyone,
I have for sale an Apple PowerBook 5300cs from 1995-1996. I am posting a feeler for this to see what this laptop would be worth. It has a color screen with no visible dead pixels. It comes with the laptop itself, power adapter + cord, and the original 7.6 install CD-ROM (although this has a crack in it, it's included as required by the rules). Of course if that's a problem I can downgrade to System 7.5 which is freely-available on Apple's web site. This Macintosh will run up to Mac OS 9. :)
Specifications (More details here. (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=112326))
PowerPC 603e CPU @ 100MHz
Mac OS System 7.6 installed
1.1 GB ATA Hard Drive
16 MB of RAM (May need to be replaced?)
1.44MB Floppy Disk Drive
SCSI (PowerBook style port, adapter needed)
InfaRed Port, ADB, Serial, Sound In, Sound Out
2 Type II PC Card slots (1 Type III)
Mac Monitor/Ethernet ports via included adapter
I also have available another 5300cs laptop, which needs some work since it plays the Death Chime upon startup, although the screen may be useable. I have another RAM card, and two additional batteries (3 in all, although they may not work). Also there is an external SCSI Iomega Zip 100 drive with it, but this is optional of course.
The computer itself is in good condition, I had a small problem where lines showed up on the top of the LCD but, this seems to have went away for now. I suppose you can always use the LCD form the other 5300 if needed. Also upon booting sometimes I will get an error message about the RAM, saying I should have it looked at by a technician.
Any pricing recommendations or advise about selling this PowerBook would be great, I was guessing around $45-50 or so, maybe a bit more for the additional parts. What do you think? Thanks for looking! :D
Note: On the second photo the lines on the LCD screen are just form the camera.
