Why won't mail.app run?

After installing 10.2.8 I'm no longer able to run Mail. It just bounces in the dock a couple times and then disappears. What the heck? Any thoughts?

I've also come to notice the fact that the volume control buttons and the eject button on my keyboard don't work anymore since the install of 10.2.8.
