Hi Guys, I could really use some input on something. I am thinking about selling my old powerbook to a friend, but I really am not sure what the fair market price is. I want to make sure I get a fair price, but I don't want to rip him off either. Here are the specs:

Powerbook G4 15"
1.5 Ghz Processor
1.5 GB Crucial RAM
100gb 7200 rpm Hard Drive
Superdrive
128mb VRAM

Am I leaving anything out? I was going to ask $750, and want to make sure I am not off base, and help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

$750 seems like a good place to start the negotiations. I was thinking about that much, and everymac.com says $900-1050, which I always take off about 25% to get a real life price. Start there I say, but you may expect to come down maybe $75 or so.

www.mac2sell.net says $800, so it seems you're in the right price range.

Very cool! I have never heard of www.mac2sell.net. Seems like a great tool! Thanks for that.

Seems like I am pretty close. Anything else I should be considering?

How much does it change the price if the casing is sort of banged up? I mean, it's not thrashed or anything, but it's not perfect, unfortunately.

Neat! That site seems to be fairly accurate (within 10% of market price).

Yeah, mine is the same way. Good shape, but not perfect.

I imagine the price takes into account some reasonable wear and tear. After all, we are talking about a computer that is around three and a half years old.

I think you might take off 50-100 for anything above the norm.

I was also wondering this, so any help from you guys would be very much appreciated!

Powerbook G4 12" 1.5Ghz
768mb Apple Ram (256mb soldered, 512 stick)
Superdrive
64mb Graphics card (ATI I think?)
80gb hd

What do you figure this is worth? I just purchased a new Macbook so if I could sell this, that'd be great!

Well, according to our new favorite web site, it is worth $620. Seems about right to me, I think the 12" are typically in higher demand than the rest.

I shopped around a lot on eBay before I bought my PowerBook last week. A powerbook G4 12" with a superdrive and upgraded RAM goes for over $600 on eBay. Just an FYI!

Here is an example. This one just has a combo drive, too. Check out the sweet description, too ("I take anal to a whole new level" LOL)!

If that's true, then I paid over $200 more for my iBook G3 then what it's worth.
