Just picked up two last night. I am in the US, so if you are that desperate then let me know. Plus with the price of the dollar right now, it may even be cheaper.

Just find out if they are region encoded and if you can buy a power adaptor.

it is sad how nintendo is forcefully keeping shipments down to keep demand up and i can't believe that these are going for more then ps3 and 360 for such a system.

Good catch. And remember that your time is worth something not to mention your peace of mind.
I bought one yesterday through Craig's list for about $100 over retail, but I figured that if I spent even another couple hours looking/buying that would eat up the Benjamin right there and beyond. I also got it in my grubby little hands with a receipt so no worries about shipping.
It's still crazy on e-bay--almost $500 including shipping for a basic console.
FWIW, you might think about buying an extra remote (which is packaged with another game) and/or a nunchuck. They're pretty cheap, easily available, and aren't going for a premium right now. It's kind of a must if you've got two kids or even if they're playing with a friend.

The seem to have them at European retail(250 euro), and they are available. Not sure if they would ship to the UK, but the UK games should all work.

I wonder why they are basically sold out everywhere, but really plentiful here in Germany....

This would be a good time to sell it. You could put it up on ebay and get more than enough to buy a new one--or a Play Station and a few games--after the christmas rush.
