I have an iPod with a broken HD. I can give it to you for under $100. Its a 5.5G.
I'll give you $60 for that, if you can guarantee it's ONLY the HD that's bad.

I can not guarentee anything. It could be a simple HD connection that needs to merely be snapped back in. It could be the entire HD. It could be a logic board. These are all possible options. It could be a super easy fix, or possibly not. I have not opened the iPod so I cannot guarentee anything and it would be foolish of me to even if I had unless I fixed it. Does a doctor guarentee his diagnosis? If so I'm sure they would not make as much money as they do. If you want me to run some tests of your own, I am more than willing except for opening the iPod.

I understand. I thought maybe you had narrowed it down to a bad HD. I have a 5G with a bad logic board, and wouldn't want another. :) It does have a good HD, screen, & battery -- just the click wheel won't work, even after being replaced with a factory new one.
When I read "I have an iPod with a broken HD" it did not sound like you were unsure of the problem. Thanks for clarifying! :)

Well I'm fairly certain from the diagnosis. The screen works, but it doesnt really sync and the HD makes a click sound anytime it sorta tries to start up. So I am fairly certain. And I am willing to stake my credibility as a user of couple years, and high positive buyer feedback on such a claim. But of course no one can be 100% positive and to stake the entire purchasing price and shipping charges is merely not a thing I see to be wise even if I was certain. I would be willing to come to agreement on a set amount of money within the payment that could be returnable upon proof that the HD was not the problem.

Chef, you hit the nail on the head.
Thats definitely your hard disk. Everything else will work fine.
I bought an iPod from my work that the person refused repair on for a buck.
The HDD was bad, all other parts were great. 5G, 30GB.
Which worked great for me, as my screen was messed up, so I got the screen and a ton of spare parts.

You see dave. I am confident in my diagnosis. But I'm a college student, selling one product, not a business. Money Back Guarentees may work due to the power of numbers, but when I don't have that. I unfortunately cannot offer it to you. But this most certainly is the problem. And if you want a solution at $60, this is it. Plus, no one will certify that their problem is broken for a certain reason. No one.

I never asked for a money-back guarantee. And I've been working on 4G iPod for some time now; sometimes what seems like a bad hard drive is in reality a bad logic board. Sometimes you take your best guess and try a part, and find out it's another. It's the way Apple trains their technicians, too.
Being certified by Apple, I've also been confident in my diagnosis, and have found it wrong, even after years working on the bench with almost every type of Mac.
But I digress. If I get this 5G fixed, I may be able to offer it for sale for $100 + shipping, after I look at my parts costs.

Sorry, I was trying (in a roundabout way) to offer the OP a deal on a used iPod, but I could have used PM instead. My bad.
